Thanks for your support and the useful link. I will also sign up for the job vaccancy updates. I have plans to get the accredition of Canadian Association of Social Workers.

No need to go to Ryerson if you can document your education credentials properly. I got my registration with ONTARIO COLLEGE OF SOCIAL WORKERS AND SOCIAL WORKERS.

I AM A REGISTERED SOCIAL WORKER IN CANADA FOR LAST TWO YEARS!!! BUT NO PERMANENT RESIDENCE!!!!!! 8)

if you need any information how to get registered, I can assist you....

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/social-worker-t71642.0.html

IF YOU ARE A SOCIAL WORKER AND IF YOU NEED TO REGISTER IN ANY PROVINCE IN CANADA AS SOCIAL WORKER, it is a SIMPLE TASK

1. GATHER YOUR DOCUMENTS FROM THE SCHOOL OR UNIVERSITIES WHERE YOU STUDIED
2. DOCUMENT IT PROPERLY... BE VERY CAREFUL WHILE YOU DO YOUR DOCUMENTATION!!!!
3. DECIDE WHICH PROVINCE YOU ARE MIGRATING
4. SEND IT TO TO CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF SOCIAL WORKERS, OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA
5. WAIT FOR A MONTH OR TWO... YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR POSITIVE REPLY!
6. BE HAPPY!
7. GET YOUR PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR WORK PERMIT
8. APPLY TO THE PROVINCIAL REGISTRATION BODY
9. BE HAPPY AND WAIT.
10 YOU WILL RECEIVE IT BY MAIL

don't wait your money and time by going to Ryerson University Program..
faculties from Ryerson suggested this option to me. so why don't YOU try this...

I TRIED THIS OPTION AND I AM SUCEESFUL... BUT NOW I DON'T WANT BE A SOCIAL WORKER.. I WANT BE A LAWYER.. SO I AHVE APPLIED TO OTTAWA UNIVERSITY LAW SCHOOL.. ( FORGOT TO SAY... I WAS A LAWYER BEFORE.. I GOT MY LAW EDUCATION CREDENTIALS ALSO GOT EVALUATED AND I NEED TO STUDY ONLY FOUR SUBJECTS TO STUDY..

Try again, but next time, tell the guy that you want to change your adress, and that you have submitted your application to CIO.
He will request your information to connect to the system, By the time he realized your application is already in Buffalo, he will be able to see if your new adress is in the system or not.

Thanks for your support and advice! I will give it another try...It was just so disappointing because I know that Canadians are so nice, but this person was beyond rude. I had that experience before when applying for visas so I know they are not true representatives of the country...but hey- it was Friday 13th after all :)

Dear Moori,

In fact, for my immigration, I preferred to get a lawyer. So I think it will be him who will receive my letter from CIO, and/or VO.

The status of my e-CAS is directly passed from "Received by VO" to "In process". So I can not tell you if I received the PER. I do not even know what PER means !

If I understand correctly, the next step is receiving the "2nd AOR" (file number change??), followed by VM, then the Visa. Is that correct?

My lawyer told me that for now, little folder "Post June 26" led (not yet issued visas). Do you think this is true?

Finally, according to my timeline, when do you think I can land in Canada?

Again, thank you!

Dear John ,

Yes your lawyer is supposed to recieve your letters either coming from CIO or VO. I suppose that he ( the lawyer ) should have called you if he receieved your PER. PER is positive eligibility review letter sent from centralized intake office in nova scotia to confirm positive processing and transfering your file to your visa office. 2nd AOR is the acknowledgment of receipt letter that the visa office sends to confirm that they have your documents and they will advise about the time frame for processing your file plus giving you a new file number which is specific to the visa office for your case. Usually the status in ecas is recieved by visa office at this stage of issueing 2nd AOR then the visa office will start processing your case at a certain date then your ecas changes to IN process with the same lines that shows in your ecas now. So I conclude that they have started assessing your file and they have already issued 2nd AOR either in its way to your lawyer by regular post or is supposed to be issued. After assessing your documents, the visa office will send you a letter either asking for extra documents or clarification OR they will issue medical request directly along with new police clearances if needed and payment of the landing fees. All these steps and your ecas will remain in process till your medicals are done. At that point, a new line will be added stating that medical results have been recieved. From you here, you will have to wait till the visa office asks for your passports to issue the visa. After stamping the visa, the ecas changes to decision made. This all depends on case by case and the speed of the visa office itself. So it would be around 3 to 5 months to get your visa if everything is smooth and fine and I hope so :) This is when you start your plans for landing given a year as a dead line from the date of the medicals exams being done :D Willing to see you there

Regards, Amr

Thank you so much, Moori. It is so kind of you to take the time to be supportive of others when you must have so much to do yourself in preparation for the big event - landing as PR!
I keep hopeful that something will come soon and take heart from those who have received MR even though their ECAs has not changed. The system is so flawed to keep people in suspense like this but when it comes good we will all be able to focus on our new life.
Thanks. :-*

Thank you so much as well queencougar ;) I will be following up till you and other wonderful people here are safe with their trip :)

My dearest regards, Amr

Similarly, we have a huge excess of points and my husband has been working in Canada since August 2010 (not as long as you, entemaria, but he has paid his taxes!) We had no choice really about Visa Office that would have made any difference.
Our twoi choices - Buffalo or London!!!!! ::)
That is what we in Britain would call "Hobson's Choice".
For those not familiar with the phrase, it means no choice at all (or as in this case, the choice between rubbish and more rubbish!!) You made the best decision you could at the time, so don't be hard on yourself about it in hindsight. :)

HOBSON'S CHOICE!!!!!!!! 8)
My partner is away and I am between rubbish and more rubbish.
Only thing that is left is my partner's support!!

Wish that ECAS thingi is being updated...and certainly don't think it's just a routine server on/off thing..

Wish just Wish
