Hi,

Cud some one tell me if there is any limit on the waist line measurement of candidates during the medical examination for Canada immigration? I have heard that some countries have some restrictions (like if you have a big tummy, they suspect you could be a case of some illness and can't make it) if any one could respond please. Also infor reg the type of tests conducted would be welcome as well. Mant thanks..

I haven't heard anything about waist circumference being an issue, but I have never had an immigration medical, so hopefully others with experience will answer this query. There is a correlation between large waist measurements and risk of heart disease (I think it is greater than 40" for men and 36" for women in North America. I do not know whether the same standards apply to all cultures or not.) As far as what is included in the medical, MEZO has a wonderful link. Go down and you will see MEDICAL references. just a question to wayne and others who recently received their MR........has anyone had a background check with their employers before receiving MR's???????

what kind of questions do they ask????

Hi m8 - no, neither my wife nor my employer were contacted, they just sent our MRs.

So they don't do employment verification on every application - just spotchecks or if they are not convinced by the documentation you have provided.

Good post Kolhpuri, thanks. In my view a correction certainly awaits the real estate market in Canada, with prices having doubled in the past 10 years. This correction could turn out to be a severe one if the US goes into a double dip recession, which some like myself are expecting, dragging down the Canadian economy with it....

Yes..Believe its not a case of an "if" but rather a "when". US Total Debt is already at US$55.3 trillion, with Mortgage Debt at US$13.3 trillion. Hopefully the free-fall will not be as severe at was in 2008!

to those who recieved letter to explain instead of medical request, how long did it take for you to receive a reply from VO? last March 3, we received a letter from VO asking us to provide additional documents...we were able to submit the document to VO last March 25.
