Any body please update me when CHC will return my original documents (PCC,IELTS,original employment documents) as well as refund cheque of CAD 1250.My file was refused on 24-Mar-11 and still I didnot receive any of my docs.
I am in great fear frustration, depression and fear regarding my docs and my refund cheque.

With Regards,
Tapta

Hi Tapta,

Sorry to hear about your NER. You will receive the refund cheque in 20-25 days but no documents will be returned, they keep them for their records (as told by CIO when I enquired for my documents). I got NER, refund fees but NO DOCUMENTS.

Dont lose heart and plan to apply again.

Best of luck,

Thanks

Kittu

Dr.Hasib

Yes, they have requested for the PCCs for me and my spouse, Medicals for all 3 of us, RPRF for me and my spouse and valid passports for all 3 of us. They have asked my spouse to renew his passport as the current one was issued in 1999.

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

Indira ,thanks a lot for your sweet words ,and many many congrats on your medicals :) :) It's really time to celebrate ;)

Thank you snow100:)

But the wait is not over yet, and i reserve the party to the day i have the maple leaves in hand :).. I'm out for some great time at the passport office for Prab's passport renewal (those who were around in August and September would know better of my adventures with the passport office) and our PCCs.

I'm confused now ::) as to which one comes first.

The medicals are to be done and that requires the original passports. This might take a week or so in Chennai.

Apply for my PCC @ the passport office(easier 1 day process as my passport was just issued and police verification done recently)

For Prab's passport, confused if i have to apply for renewal first and then the PCC or the other way around :-\. It takes a week for the passport to get issued, but to get the PCC after the passport is reissued will take time, a month or more? As the police verification happens only after they issue the passport and they will not issue the PCC before the PV done. The general timeline is 40 days for this. I do not have that much time now.

??? ??? ??? ::) ::) ::)

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

With the Canadian Elections in May - I suspect CIC to slow down particularly as new government policies may come into effect (if Mr.Harper has to go)

Much has been written on this thread about the Canadian elections and its effect on our applications. I did some reading and here are my findings: First, it appears that Harper's conservatives should win, which should keep the status quo on immigration. Second, it appears that if the liberals pull out a win with Michael Ignatieff, that immigration will actually increase in various categories... all in all, I see no problem for our visas from the Canadian elections in May, please let me know if I am missing something, thanks.

"Michael Ignatieff wants to boost immigration to 350,000 a year
From Canadian Press:

Liberal leadership candidate Michael Ignatieff says the federal government should boost immigration to Canada to at least 350,000 people a year from the current 260,000 by streamlining the immigration process."

Ignatieff calls for immigration ‘fairness commissioner’

"Michael Ignatieff delved into immigration issues Tuesday, saying a Liberal government would reverse cuts to family-reunification visas.

He also called for a “fairness commissioner” in Ottawa who would check on the professions – doctors, engineers, and pharmacists – to make sure they are not discriminating against immigrants.

“What bothers them [new Canadians] is that people are closing doors for them and making it impossible for them to succeed,” the Liberal Leader said Tuesday. “I think there is something Ottawa can do about that to just say, put the burden of proof on the professional organizations to prove that they are opening the doors to Canadians.”

Mr. Ignatieff was speaking at a roundtable meeting in Vancouver, his first stop in British Columbia since the election campaign began. The Liberal Leader criticized the Tories for reducing the numbers of family immigrants since 2006, when the Harper Conservatives formed government.

He said that in the past five years, the Conservatives have cut back on family reunification visas. More cuts are coming, Mr. Ignatieff said, noting the Tories have announced further reductions."

I am guessing the first people to get their actual visas will be New Delhi. Manila did issue medical requests slightly before, but then Manila have to issue PPR whereas ND have already done it, which would add a delay.

As far as I can see the first ND MR+PPR were late February, and I reckon security checks will take a minimum of 2 months.

Therefore I reckon we will see the first maple leaves in passports by the end of April!

Wayne.
