Sadly, Wayne, I know that it CAN be impossible for some honest, hard working, well educated, young people to get a TRV. In seemed that the fact that they were SO educated/adaptable/financially independent actually went AGAINST them getting TRV. Living in a country like England or Canada all your life, it comes as a sad reality that bad things happen to good people and you have no control over the outcome.

Update for London VO applicants:

A colleague who applied in August 2010 (not a forum member), just called me now that he just got his Medical and RPRF request this afternoon. So It looks like London is still moving.

Goodluck to all.

Well my apologies then for trivialising the difficulties. I was not aware is was as hard as that!

Excellent news! Can you please confirm if he is a UK native/resident, and also his NOC code?

Also was he B05 or E00 file number? :)

Obviously this news is of exceptional interest to us since we are August 2010 London applicants! ;)

Thanks,
Wayne.

A job in Canada in two weeks for a foreigner ??? how?? it is not that easy, and the 15 points are awarded only if the job is a skilled one, a goog source of information for getting a job in Canada as a foreigner is the web page indeed, type foreign workers, then Canada and a list will be displayed but once again most of those jobs are unskilled ones, you guys can also try the job bank with the same search criteria, once in a while you will find skilled positions opened for anybody that matches their criteria, another web page, latrpo for english-spanish speakers, most of the jobs are under the skilled category, sorry to disagree but I do not think its realistic to assume you will get a job offer in two weeks but yes, it is possible with lots of patience.......

Kala
My husband did it on a two week visit (which Wayne knows and which is probably why he knew he could say it with confidence!). There's the proof.
Lots of research, lots of late-night calls and basically a lot of effort. No, the web pages are a rubbish way for people to find work in Canada. There is no point relying on web links like Job Bank as if you are not legally entitled to work in Canada at the point you apply because they will just bin your application. Canadians are not good with e-mail. They prefer personal contact and I for one can see why - it is the resort of people who do not make an effort. My advice to anyone really wanting or needing to find their job first is do your research on companies that might be interested in what you have to offer and call them personally. Then prove to them that you are serious by making the expensive journey and it can be done.
I am very surprised that anyone should expect any country to be interested in people who think that they can just fire off an e-mail CV and voila! a job will be offered to them.
Many people told us to give up as we weren't on the list but we refused to listen when they said it was impossible and kept on trying anyway.
Canada is a well-of country with a lot to offer to immigrants. Surely it is worth the effort? Cat 1 is actually a very easy route if you qualify for it. It costs some money and time, yes, but other than that it is just waiting.
Those of us without the benefit of being on the list have had to put way more effort into just getting to this stage than Cat 1s, for instance in our case my OH giving up his secure job here, over 7 months of separation from our partner, paying two lots of living expenses and hundreds of pounds we could ill afford for flights to see one another just twice in that time. Cat 1s who are moaning should ask themselves exactly what they have personally risked or sacrificed so far in this process and in most cases the answer will be nothing.
They say getting a job offer and LMO is next to impossible now. Only the very strong, committed and resourceful manage it and those qualities are what Canada wants. We are prepared to prove to Canada that we deserve a place there through our efforts.
People should remember that Canada is protecting its people with these regulations and requirements.
Immigration is not run for the good of the potential immigrant but for the good of the country.
Be glad you are currently meeting their criteria and have this chance.
BTW, I am in no way trivialising the fickle attitude of some government departments in other countries to issuing Visas but there are people who manage it. Effort and Luck are required to win the day.

Hi - I have no wish to pry into his full file number of course, just wanted to know what the first 3 digits were so we could ascertain if he was added onto CAIPS or GCMS initially (we think B05 numbers were initially added onto CAIPS, and E00 numbers were initially added onto GCMS).

Thanks :)

No worries. Will revert if I get that info.

Cheers.

Great news for London applicants. There hasn't been much for us to get excited about recently, so every little helps.
Personally, I would like to hear of some Buffalo applicants getting their Meds, as our good friend CanadaJimmy is in need of his before his LMO runs out in June-ish.
So COME ON, BUFFALO - pull out all the stops for CanadaJimmy!!!
