Canada's government toppled, elections in May...
Ottawa: Canada's opposition defeated Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper's minority government in a no-confidence vote Friday over its alleged "abuse of power," forcing elections.
The adoption of the motion presented by the main opposition Liberals and supported by the separatist Bloc Quebecois and leftist New Democrats comes on the heels of a historic contempt of parliament charge against the Tories.
The three opposition parties mustered a combined 156 votes in favour of the motion versus 145 for the government's survival.
Harper is now expected to ask the governor-general on Saturday to officially dissolve Parliament, sending Canadians to the polls in early May.

Will it cause further delay, dilema in our immigration plans, issuing visas, new policies etc??

News Release

Federal funding to the Bridge Training Program Works for Skilled Immigrants

Ottawa, March 25, 2011 — The Government of Canada is providing $22 million to help skilled immigrants in Ontario find jobs, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced today.

The Bridge Training program helps skilled immigrants enter the Canadian labour market and find employment that matches their education and skills. The program funds regional projects in Ontario that help skilled immigrants get a Canadian license in a regulated profession, or the training they need to get work in regulated and non-regulated careers. The program also funds initiatives that reduce barriers to the integration of foreign-trained workers.

“This program helps skilled immigrants in Ontario enter and integrate into the Canadian labour market,” said Minister Kenney. “It is absolutely critical to engage employers in this process, and this program does just that.”

The Bridge Training program has been co-funded since 2007-08 by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario. Given the success of this program, the Government of Canada is continuing its contribution with $12M in 2011-2012 and $10 million in 2012-2013.

To date, over 200 projects have been funded and over 35,000 immigrants in Ontario have benefited from the program.

The Government of Canada is committed to attracting, retaining and integrating immigrants into Ontario communities. Federally funded settlement services have enabled significant expansion and enhancement of both language training and settlement services. Since 2006, the Government of Canada has tripled funding for settlement services in Ontario.

Thank a bunch for your congratulations which encourage me a lot! I strongly believe all of us would receive MR sooner or later.
Pls note my details as follow: the letter dated March 08 and it is said that all document including medical result and supporting document should be submitted to CIC within 60 days from that date. Well it goes by snail mail to reach my lawyer so I have only 40 days to get this done.
My PCC is sent to CIO before so this time they only ask for MR and RPRF only, not PPR.

Hi everyone,

I was finally able to check the status of my application and it says Centralized Intake Office Sydney (CIO-S) Eligibility Review Complete FYI for all ex-Yugoslavia applicants- I had a problem since I was born in Bosnia and couldn't check my status when I was picking Bosnia. I tried Yugoslavia and it worked!

Also I was hoping someone can update the spreadsheet. My home country is Serbia and I live in US. Also if you could update # of days elapsed that would be great!

As the Canadian Government has been dismissed a while ago therefore there will be a new short term uncertainity in the processing of FSW applications submitted overseas.

The overseas FSW applications which have been moved to medicals stage will be processed normally but all other applications MIGHT face some delays.

This is normal transition and will not last longer.
