Vancouver seems like a marvelous city to be in..
but some people warned of going there first,
they say that it doesn't have many job opportunities

what do you think?

I don't know what to think because i haven't been there. Sometimes people say one thing and you discover quite different , it all depends on what you are looking for, what jobs they have available and so on.

If it's sort of California of Canada (both, btw, on South West part of the country) then it's probably not the easiest place to get settled quickly, but on the other hand may offer many things that are not available in other parts of the country.

In any event, since we are on East Coast i think we would stay on the same side of the continent until after many years later, because we will still maintain very close connection to US (kids are US born Citizens, wife enjoys her work a lot and wants to pursue her Graduate Studies in the same field ,may even work for American company in Canada, we have business here that we would like to expand to Canada and take advantage of unique and great opportunity of having an access to both of the markets, want kids to visit friends and maintain close ties here in US and etc.) and being on the same coast provides easier communication routes (driving up to 9 hours is quite bearable , as compared to anything above , and the sense of being within a "driving distance" is quite different from being on different ends of the Continent).

For the above stated reasons we would least likely move to Vancouver anytime soon, but it may be different for each individual depending on each individual's circumstances.

Wayne,

I am sorry to hear about your loss.

Please stay calm, I know things are not going your way lately, but I am hopeful that by this month's end the London Guys will definitely be getting some news. Who knows you might just get your Medicals Request itself.

Thanks,
DarKnight

Hi Uncertain

Congrats for reaching this far and good luck ahead.

Can you pls share, did they introduced themselves calling from CHC ND or something else.

Will appreciate your response on this....

Dear Positive and Nitin,
She said in English "I am calling from Canadian High Commission, New Delhi and I want talk regarding your PR apllication". After going home I found that she also called my home and spoke in Hindi with my mother. She inquired about my relation to the receiver (my mother) and asked where I work? Hope this helps.

Thx snow100 :) Good news coming to you and all Cairo applicants and all other applicants
The letter is almost 6 pages and it is hard to post it here but let me try and type main paragraphs for your info and others as well :
Dear sir,

This is to advise you that the processing of your application to immigrate to Canada has reached the stage where immigrant visa(s) can be issued to you (and your accompanying dependents) as soon as the Right of Permanent Residence Fee has been paid and/or your settlement funds are available. You and your spouse are required to pay the right of permanent residence fee in the amount of $490 or (EGP 2550) for each. This fee is refundable in the event that you decide not to proceed to Canada to be grated permanent residence. Please note the method of payment attached.

Unless you remit your right of permanent residence fees before the end of the validity of your visa, I will not be able to finalize your application and issue immigrant visa(s). I must advise you that delay in the payment of the right of permanent residence fee may result in the expiration of your security or medical results. No extension are normally possible. The immigrant visa is valid for one year of the date of your medical examination.

This is page of them and the others are speaking about medical to be done in 1 month and details of tests somehow with processing. The remaining ones refer to the payment methods and sending the receipts ( quite confusing the amount ) we shall see. In between lines there is referring to landing fee to be paid later and an IMM8 application to be submitted.

Hope it helps

Wow Moori, that's really excellent news...

does that mean that they finished everything except for the fees & the medicals? does it mean that they can finalize your application only in a couple of months or so??

that would be REALLY great.. :) :) :) Maybe I should wish I had applied to Cairo VO instead of London ;) :) :D

I am really happy for you guys & hope they continue like that & keep the fast pace :)

Hope tomorrow brings us even better news :)

Dear Nitin,
Sorry. I forgot to mention that CHC called my office landline phone. I did not include mobile number of my boss in my reference number.

Hello!

I am eagerly waiting for my med requests and haven't heard anything yet.

My eCas says "Your application was reviewed and we started processing on March 3, 2011." Does that mean that they have probably dispatched the medicals request on the 3rd? Is it just postal delay?
People who have already got the med requests, Does the date on your letter match the date in eCas?

Sorry for your loss wayne. :'( May she rest in peace.

Well, procedural unfairness seems pretty frustrating to you,I know. Just think why? Isn't it because you are living in a free country and at least have always had the right to protest unfairness without being immediately labled and placed behind bars? You are lucky man! Will be able to live your safe and secure life until you are given the PR .

Thinking this way might help you feel relaxed and happy that you are not among a great great number of awaiting applicants who are facing not only unfairness but also cruelty each and every minute, who are in constant fears for their lives and even if they are granted the chance to set themselves free, they will always have this excrutiating pain deep inside their hearts as to what is going to happen to their loved ones back home.

I am truly happy that you will never feel what I'm talking about in the exact agonizing way that it is. And sadly it is there;a REAL nightmare; very true and deeply devastating.

So,come on pal, enjoy your good enough moments in your fair enough homeland in hopes of better ones. And London will wake up finally !!! Hopefully!! ;)

I agree with you that in many times what people say arise from their own perspective. Though trying to get as many opinions as possible usually sheds proper light on the discussed matter.

& personal circumstances as you say affects one's final decision (as in your case, being close to your current residence, friends & all).

In my case, we are going to try hard to get a job offer (or atleast some interviews) before going there & I don't think that we will be very picky with the jobs as long as they are in my husband's field of work & in a reasonable place.
