Hey Wayne/Anil/Indira,
Pls update the tracker with my latest ecas :) "In Process"....i guess it was updated yesterday cos till late saturday night it was saying "RBVO".... ;D
We received your application for permanent residence on September 22, 2010.
We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on January 25, 2011. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
Your application was reviewed and we started processing on March 2, 2011.

Shareen, it looks like ND VO can't wait until Tuesdays arrive to update the ECAS :P. I guess, when they start 'processing' they send out the MR/PCC/PPR etc., The processing is includes, background checks and security checks. Or is there someone who can confirm they received the employment verification calls before the MR/PPR/PCC requests?

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

Thanks, and as with me, i wouldn't mind getting the MR(registered post) first rather than waiting for the AOR(Normal post) :P. Fingers crossed :-X

Thanks,

There is also a disadvantage in submitting the passports before all the checks are done:(. There are just too many people left without passports, for as long as 4 months out of the ND VO.

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

Maybe the post June 26 will be processed faster, & have their passports back faster.. maybe a month or two..
I was hoping..

They had already finished their reviews & checks, so why should it take them 4 months to issue the visa?.. I was wondering!!

Also note that they are giving them 45 days now to submit everything, versus the 60 days that used to be given before

I strongly suspect they do not complete the background and security checks before the MR, at-least for the ND VO. The difference between 2nd AOR and the MR is about a week as of now and so, even if they were able to do it for a couple of them, we have received a total of 6 MR/PPR from ND VO as of today ::). So, that explains the longer wait period our passports will remain with the ND VO.

Wayne,

there is some confusion going on as to which date to enter into the tracker for the 2nd AOR and the Medicals. Should we go with the date on the letters or the date received? The date on the letters would make more sense isn't it?

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

Guys, should we consider this the 2nd AOR from Singapore VO?

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

I think so...because they have provided a new file number in the letter they have provided to me and also requesting me to update them if any changes happen in my status....

Please remember that background checks and security checks are completely different things. Security checks kinda always take a while, at least 30 days probably, but I think these are done concurrently with medicals.

Whereas background checks largely involve confirming the authenticity of educational and work experience documents, as well as proof of funds. In many cases if the immigration officer is satisified that everything is in order and that no employment verification checks or document checks are necessary then background checks may only take 30 minutes or so.

So I think background checks are still done prior to issue of medical request, and the above reason is why often the medical requests are issued within a few days of background checks.

As for the date of the 2nd AOR the problem is that half the people on there never gave us the date on the letter so we'd have to go round changing everything? Although you are right the date of the letter would make more sense since then local postal delays will not be skewing the figures.

Wayne.

Make sure you properly select all the options with correct file number ( BXXXx) . when did you last check your e-cas ?

Hi Mayank,

I also have one FSW file in backlog but I am unable to check my file status. The message says that "do not identify " and that check the processing time. I had filed through a consultant.

Can you guide.

Thanks in advance.

We have been asking around family and friends in Canada where we should land and start to settle. So much pros and cons about the different provinces. We concentrated on asking about Vancouver, Toronto and Winnipeg because these are the places we have close family and friends and here's what we got in general.

Vancouver has the best weather and is in fact currently ranked as the most livable city but it has the lowest minimum wage which most of us new immigrants will have to deal with. Apart from that it is said to be the most expensive.

Toronto, on the other hand, is like the economic capital of canada but then it has the greatest unemployment rate of all and in fact last year, bulk of the almost 300K immigrants came to Toronto. Also cost of living is almost as expensive as Vancouver BUT it has the highest minimum wage in all of Canada.

Winnipeg has the worst winter among the three however jobs are plenty. It has the lowest unemployment rate among all the provinces and just a notch below Toronto as far as minimum wage is concerned. Crime rate is real bad in Winnipeg though but I dunno how bad the crime is compared to Manila.

Our uncle from Toronto who discouraged us from going to Toronto said, ease of settlement in another country/ location has a lot to do with how fast you can find a job and with that we realized we needed to be practical at least for the few years. We want to settle ultimately in Vancouver but I guess we will have to deal with bad winters of Winnipeg and save then move to Vancouver later on hopefully

Vancouver seems like a marvelous city to be in..
but some people warned of going there first,
they say that it doesn't have many job opportunities
