Thanks for the link. Quite informative. Nice to see that Canada is well placed re immigration policies and activities. i am a bt surprised at the low score on Political participation though.

At what level are non Canadians legal residents allow to participates vis-a-vis voting rights, right to contest in elections etc?

You can vote and be voted for only when you become a Canadian citizen.

You can register and participate in politics but that's about it. Participation in politics is a very good way of integrating people and Canada fails woefully in this regard.

Well, the minimum is 2 years, but it can take 4 years too :-[. For now we are just thinking of having the Maple Leaves soon 8). And then decide, what to do. We are prepared to stay away from the family(either of us) for sometime in Canada, so the settlement get's a bit easy ???. But things might change. We are exploring other career options like Project managers, Construction managers etc., where they do not stress on the registration . Let's see..

The medicals line is on everyone's status and is an error. They will probably fix it soon (they fixed it once before, now it's back!). I think letter on 6 Dec is just your PER - ours says the same (for 15 December) and we only received an email.

It all looks normal!

hi to all and congrats to all PER holders, i have applied for immigration under skilled worker category NOC 3131, i submitted my application on 29 oct 2010 and it was recieved by CIO on 3 nov 2010 by GLEN i enquired about my demand draft the bank told me that it has been encashed but they did not tell the date of encashment.after the lapse of so much time still i have not got any response from CIO, i have also filled in the online enquiry form on 25 feb 2011 , please kindly add my details too, i am very much worried why they have not contacted me.
my sister in law also submitted docs under same NOC same day but after 3 months she got her docs. back bcoz of incompleteness of form she again submitted the documents after completion on 14 feb and it was recieved by CIO on 21 feb 2011, kindly enter our details on spreadsheet too

Just tried to check our ECAS status (which we have been successfully able to check since they were all added in January) and all of a sudden got "We cannot identify you". Tried several times to make sure that I had not miskeyed any information, still no go.

Anyway, then I tried changing "United Kingdom and Colonies" as Place of Birth (which we've been using all along) to "England" and now we can log in again!

Seems someone updated our "Place of birth" on ECAS from "United Kingdom and Colonies" to "England" overnight. Details are exactly the same once logged in though:

"Received_by Visa Office" ->

We received your application for permanent residence on August 30, 2010.

Medical results have been received.

We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on December 15, 2010. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
