Welcome to the forum :)

I suggest you to wait for a couple of weeks as the OCT applicants have just started receiving the PERs. If you don't hear from them until mid March, may be you can use the below link to make an online inquiry about the status of your application.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/canada/csu.asp

I guess you would get a PER before end of Feb, as your date of submission is already somewhat into the blue channel:).

Meanwhile, you can try retrieving the BD status from your bank. Yes, that's a bit hectic, but not impossible :).. We have all done that.

Previously, CIO used to send AOR(Acknowledgment of receipt of application), after which the applicants have to submit ALL supporting documents to the VO.

Post June 26 2010, the process changed and we had to submit ALL documents in 1 go to the CIO, NS. The CIO then does the eligibility review and sends out a different email to the applicants(confirming the outcome of the eligibility review). PER stands for Positive Eligibility Review and the term is coined in this thread :P :P.

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

Hello sgcandle:

Could you please provide a link to the source of this information, thank you. I am also somewhat confused as to what they mean, could you possibly explain for example what they are saying about Buffalo. I truly appreciate your help.

Inventory means the backlog of files in visa office. Each year Immigration Minister presents bill in parliament and declare the number of permanent residents Canada will accept. This target is further divided among various international regions and then to visa office.

Once visa office sets target, then only that number of files in specific category. Target of 7500 means only this number of Files will be processed.

"New Delhi Visa Targets & Inventory
We received the list of visa office targets world wide and Inventory list.

New Delhi has Inventory of 110, 376 Federal skilled Flies as of January 06, 2011. In 2010, 3,111 files were processed. Visa targets for federal skiled Class for year 2011 are 7500. ( total world wide target: 55,900).

London Visa office has inventory of 59,976 files. In 2010, 18,674 files are processed. 2011 target is 17,500

Buffalo has inventory of 12,605, In 2010, 9407 files are processed. 2011 target is 7500.

New Delhi 2011 Targets are: 3000 PNP files,200 for business, 5000 for spouses, common law partner & dependent children, 2500 for parents, 200 for sponsored refugees, 50 for Quebec skilled Class

There are 11,811 files pending under parental sponsorship as till Jan06, 2011. (New Delhi)
Target for year 2011 is 2500. By end of this year, inventory is likely to increase.

Sydney has target of 340 Federal Skilled cases in 2011. Inventory of 2147 till Jan 06, 2011.

Hi sgcandle,
Could you please share the link for the Visa Targets & Inventory?

many thnx
Saif

Ours is in "IN PROCESS" which we are crossing fingers means visa office have our application and are mid-way through our security/background checks!

Regarding Nursemich's medical requests coming only a few days after AOR. I think (just guessing) that AOR is sent by an admin team and they probably have a bit of a backlog. Whereas med requests are probably actually requested by the visa officer reviewing the case. It wouldn't surprise if in some cases med requests came before AOR!

Hmm.
I don't remember ever reading a single case where someone was rejected after medical requests for any other reason BUT excessive strain due to medicals.

So IMO visa office have already satisfied themselves prior to issuing medical requests. I admit that's just my opinion though.

Wayne.

Dear Wayne,

Yes I nave heard that one family (VO Vienna) was refused after submitting admissible medical results, because they have got medical applications before background check have been finished.

All is possible.

Ok, thanks for this info. I had not realised this was possible. IMO this is a little irresponsible of visa office. A family of 5 or 6 it could easily cost 2000 CAD or more for medical requests. Such a cost is unnecessary if visa office are going to fail the application for any other reason than medical reasons.

However, I guess the flipside to the argument - if it is true - is that visa office can run security/background checks in parallel with medicals being done, hence speeding up the final decision process.

Either way there's nothing we can do about the process :) People have nothing to fear from security/background checks anyway as long as they have been completely truthful in their application.

It's a fair assumption that there is some lag updating ECAS after eligibility review is complete etc. And I think they mainly update the system overnight on Tuesdays. So it will perhaps change for next Wednesday!

Holy Moly!

First we had the Wakawaka Effect...
Then we had the Chisan Catapult... and now...
Spaceship nursemich ;D

This is wonderful news in my opinion, although other VOs are far behind, we are at least getting an idea of what could happen to the rest of us. Congratulations nursemich, you must be one hell of a Nurse! :)

VO don't care about money. One applicant from the same VO Vienna second time do medicals (there aren't problem with health), but they have no visa in the passports yet.

Well as I said, I guess the good side of this is that by running security/background checks in parallel with medicals being done they are speeding up the process. And I guess only a very small % of people will fail due to security/background check problems.
