hello everyone,
A friend of mine introduced me to this forum and I wouldn't have known there is such as this that exists and I was amazed how everybody contributes and help each other. I'm a newbie, so, i am not sure if im doing the right thing here, actually.
But let me tell you about my application for PR...which is probably a little different than most of you guys here.
I am already in Canada. I'm a Filipino and I have been working here in Edmonton, Alberta for 3 years now as a Temporary Foreign Worker.
I have decided to apply for Permanent Residency just recently. I submitted my application November 11, 2010 and CIO-NS received it on November 15, 2010.
Now, i was hesitant to try the ECAS, since I thought I would'nt be able to access that because I don't have a file number yet and I was chicken to see how my application was. :-[
Then last night, I tried entering my information on the ECAS, and since I'm a foreign worker here, I already have a Client ID number. That's what I used to retrieve any information about my application and last night it showed "IN PROCESS". I was so ecstatic, I felt relieved that I got through before the cap. And that was my biggest worry, if I got through or not, since I haven't heard anything from CIC.
Now tonight, I checked again, and the status was changed to "APPLICATION RECEIVED".
I'm just posting, so at least I could give you guys an idea how far along the CIO are working on our applications, and as well as to give relief to other applicants who has not heard from CIO yet.
I only have a concern though, if there is any difference between the two statuses, the "IN PROCESS" and the "APPLICATION RECEIVED"??? And how come it changed overnight?
I am thankful to all of you already.. :)

Hello Aliyah,

Welcome to the forum.

All i can guess is your application is already past completeness check and is undergoing eligibility review. There is a chance that the eligibility review is complete too..

As observed lately, the ECAS status is not very reliable, but is still a good source of info. I hope the 'Application received' status indicates that the application passed completeness check and the CIO eligibility review is on.

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

OK here is my guess:

IN PROCESS should mean applications which have actually been received by the visa office. APPLICATION RECEIVED I think means it has been received by CIO in Sydney. Since you are a November applicant it will be several weeks before you should expect to receive your PER, and some weeks after that before it will get to the visa office.

Therefore I don't this change is anything to worry about. They are just distinguishing those applications which are still at CIO with those which have been received by, or at least send to, the visa office. It is clear they have some teething problems getting >J26 applicants onto ECAS. First everyone's said IN PROCESS with meds received. Then they fixed the meds received thing. Now they have amended status to reflect whereabouts people are in the process.

Like I say it's just guesswork but this is my best guess.

Dear friends
There is alink also given under the ecas status which give us the guide line about teh procedure and i hope its also usefull but most of us status is in process and teh VISA OFFICE ELIGIBILITY REVIEW COMPLETE is missing and we are direct come to IN PROCESS.
So does it mean that our file is now at our VO and the eligibility review is complete by VO ?
Is there any news about this point by seniour ? here is the link as well
https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/redir.do?redir=app_perm_wrkr&lang=en&app=ecas
So kindly give some idea about it.
Thanks

Hello SatishMan,

I'm not sure about this ??? ??? Sorry.

But i think it makes sense to skip the VO eligibility review stage as it's already done by CIO.

IN PROCESS usually means the background checks/documentation checks are on as of applications received until June 25 2010. For post June 26 apps, No idea :-[ :-[ :-[.

The irony is this status is available for people without a PER also. So, i'm very confused :-\ :-\ :-\

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

So guys, let me say this for sure and (Advance123 for you and your secret source) - The PER is actually a PER. VO are not doing any eligibility review or else they would have said that in the mail. So people who have your PER, you are almost there. Wait for your VO to wake up.
