I guess the VO is just mentioning their historic processing times -it may/may not match the time lines we are about to face, its just their best guess as per available statistics so that we dont bother them for a few months.

You can see your e-cas status. Lucky you :'(
It's wrong. I don't have anything in ecas.

Here is an update from my application.

I received an email from my local VO office yesterday, Feb 1, 2011. It mentioned something like we have received your application, processing times, interview, etc.

Basically, just instructions and informing us that they have received our application.

It did mentioned that if after 6 months I don't hear from them starting from the date of the email, I should follow up.

A bit disappointing :o I guess all of us were hoping something better from the VO's. 6 months have already passed since we sent our applns to CIO and now another waiting period of 6 to 12 months. The change in the procedure was supposed to make things faster, on the contrary, things are getting delayed.

Anyways Congrats to you, you are the first person to receive a coomunication from the VO

Regards

2nd AOR is big news indeed! I think they are quoting standard timeframes, and sounds like they are using pre-June-26 timeframes when quoting. Post-June-26 timeframes should be different because much of the work has already been done.

Also I think they do not send the AOR until they actually begin the processing (security/background checks etc). I understand the checks usually take around 30 days for a straight forward case. Therefore we might expect the first medical requests by around mid-March.

Some visa offices will be slower than others I think. London (our visa office) are reputed to be quite slow so it might be a while before we get an AOR. We got our PER 15th December 2010 and nothing yet.

Gz on 2nd AOR receivers. I think this means they have begun your security/background checks. I personally doubt it will take 6 to 12 months since they have less work to do. Hopefully 3 months tops! ;)

I have marked 2nd AOR receivers in light green on the spreadsheet.

Thanks as usual Wayne, do you s'pose an extra column might help track this, further calculate time frames?

Wayne, my personal comment - The green is not green enough. It is not standing out of diffrentiating the 2nd AOR guys. I will suggest changing the colour.

Thanks hariranjith & queencoughr....

no need to fill 2 sets of forms.
only one will do
just check the box in the vo check list.
staple the photos on left corner of imm0008 generic form
pcc is not compulsary
so there is no box to check
all the best with u r application

Wayne,
I also think it wont take more than 6 months after 2nd AOR. The VO send email following the regular timeframe of respective VOs. It should take far less for the post-june applicants.
I have one question though , When do the VO starts background checks? After sending the 2nd AOR? Do they necessarily call up the employer? In that case I need to inform my previous crazy boss and remind him. :-\

Canada immigration led to population growth in the nation

Canada, 1st February: Increasing number of overseas immigrants coming to Canada has led to an increased growth in Canada’s population in the year 2009.

The third quarter of the last year witnessed population of Canada go up by around 129,300 due to a net inflow of around 84,200 overseas immigrants.

The fastest growth of population was seen in Prince Edward Island in Q3/2009 when its population went up by 2.8 percent to touch 143,200. BC(British Columbia) was the second province to register fastest population growth rate in the same quarter by making an increase of 1.9 percent.

Population of Ontario and Quebec registered a growth of 1.8 percent and 1.3 percent respectively. In the third quarter of the year 2010, population of Canada witnessed an increase of 1.2 percent in its population from the third quarter of the year 2009 to reach 34,238,000. This is in sharp contrast to the drop seen in Canada’s population in Q2/2009.

Total number of immigrants coming to Canada in the year 2009 was 252,177 while the number of immigrants leaving Canada for other nations was 53,955.

Alberta witnessed arrival of highest number of overseas immigrants in the year 2010. The number of international immigrants coming to Alberta in the first three quarters of the year 2010 was 18,922.

Although, during the last 15 years, Alberta continued to attract higher number of overseas immigrants, however, the number of immigrants coming to this Canadian province has been exceptionally quite high between the year 2008 and 2010.

And the reason behind a higher number of immigrants from different parts of the world choosing Alberta is due to the economic prosperity of this Canadian province.

No wonder, the number of immigrants settling in Alberta in the year 2010 was 10 percent as compared to the 1990s when the number of international immigrants settling in Alberta in the 1990s was only 5 percent. And, it’s quite likely that this Canadian province is going to attract large number of international immigrants in the coming years.

This can prove to be highly beneficial to the economy of Alberta especially if the immigrants coming to Alberta have the requisite skills in high demand in this province.

Hello everyone.

Unfortunately bad news for me... although they were predictable.
My application was returned yesterday by mail.

Wayne, please remove me form the list and include me in the returned applications sheet.

At least I've already a final answer on this process..The waiting was killing me!

Wish you all the best and... be patient!!!

EnvioZA, wow!, if your previous boss is crazy, you really have to work hard at getting him sane at this time. You really need his cooperation at this stage, Jeeeez!.
The VO starts the background checks right after your application is received from the CIO ie the usual standard checks,(despite already done at CIO stage) NOC, work experience along side documents submitted, POF, etc, and of course MAY call/write your present and past employers if there is any slight doubt.
You sure cannot afford to have a loose cannon at this stage.
BEST WISHES, YOU SURE WILL GO THROUGH! EXPECT YOUR MEDICAL REQUEST IN A FEW MONTHS.
