@ Wayne.

You sound very much naija.
Am I right?

I have no idea what "naija" is. If you're referring to my nationality, I am from England.

No doubt about it, Midoo, this is great news for you because it tells you that they have definitely thoroughly checked your file. If there was anything else wrong you can bet they would have sent your file back or told you about it. They would not waste their time asking for the IELTS if here was something else missing or incorrect.
So, just put your plans back a month or two, do the General Test and get a good result to them to be assured of a positive review.

Could someone update our entry, please? -
BD cashed 23rd September.
Thanks

Ok updated :) At least you can be 100% sure that CIO has your app and you are past the completness check. As you've said there is no possible reason they could fail your eligibility review really. You have 86 points and a TWP, it SHOULD be a short eligibility review because they just need to check that your husband's job is in the Skill 0,A or B cateogories, and tot up your points.

PERs started getting sporadic after Christmas and in the past week have become scarce, so I am sure you will get your PER very soon once CIO gets back into full swing.

Hi, Yesterday, I quoted the phrase "initial assessment" and asked the forum members idea on what do they mean about it. My own interpretation here is:

1) That they already computed our score to reach 67 points or more that is why they gave us 120 days to comply.
2) The other one is that they simply checked our papers and noticed the academic ielts then sent us the email. The catch on this is that you may have the 16 points ielts score but since they havent assessed you there is a chance that you might not reach 67 based on the documents you submit and eventualy get a NER.

Now, to prove this 1st theory, we have to know if somebody with academic ielts got an outright rejction or an NER rather than asked to comply 120 days just like ours. Otherwise it is just a standard message sent to all who submitted the academic ielts.

I dont think that they based the acceptance of academic ielts on an applicants NOC. Because my NOC is a regulated profession and would require me to take the academic ielts again if i took the GT before. BTW, I took the academic ielts in dec 2009 coz I saw an ad before employing doctors for canada but after I submitted my papers to them, they told me that it was just for pooling purposes and offered me to work in the ME instead which I declined coz i cant stay away from my wife and kids that long. Anyway, the sad part here is there is no more slot for the GT module this january and the earliest would be on feb 12 and I booked it yesterday. I remember last year, on this same thread that somebody advised me to take the GT module while waiting, so that when my application is returned I will be able to send it back immediately but I did not followed his advise. Anyway, no regret at least we've tried and the good thing is our papers were retained at their possession and just asked us to comply.

To Punter and Midoo, goodluck with your IELTS GT module exam.

If you are being asked to submit general IELTS exam then IMO you have passed every other area of the eligibilty review. They would not waste your time or theirs otherwise. However, to be eligible you need 67 points and they cannot confirm your points without the correct IELTS test.

So IMO you will definitely pass your eligibility review as long as your test results match your language skill claims from your forms.

Best of luck,
Wayne.

I second this Wayne. They sure should have checked everything else already.

In my Opinion, CIC charge our BD / CC only when they conclude that our applications are eligible for further processing. and this on average takes 16 days. Then why they take 3 months or even 4 months to send just an e-mail for that eligibility confrimation i.e. PER.

Just like to hear other opinions..

Because they charge after they have done a completeness check only. Then later on they do a complete eligibility review.

Hi Wayne,

Can you please update my info on the spreadsheet. My CC was debited today 19/01/11. My application was received at the CIO on 12/01/11

Tnx.

Hi guys,

Sorry if I got a bit frustrated yesterday with all the negs and things.

So anyway I decided to vent my frustration in a more productive manner and so I have decided to produce a Canada immigration blog.

This can be found at:
http://get2canada.wordpress.com

I hope it can become a central resource for all manner of very useful information. At the moment it's very much work in progress and I have just put a few useful bits on there so far - some explanation of acronyms, the PER wording and the process so far.

I am hoping to add more information about timelines and keep it up to date, also some FAQ.

Hopefully when people ask questions they can find all the answers there (eventually).

Wayne.

Wayne, That is a Wonderful Idea .....
Keep Going...

Regards
Destined.

Way to go man. This is a great idea. As i was posting the other day to respond to a newcomer, he was shocked when i recomended to read this thread from the begining. But your blog will have the important bits for them and then they can read these pages if they want to.
Dont worry about the negs. Your posts have always been most helpful and balanced.
