People, not sure if this was circulated already in this thread.

On November 30th 2010, Federal Skilled Workers - Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in Sydney, Nova Scotia has established a new Client Service Unit (CSU) to answer your case-specific inquiries.

The Client Service unit (CSU) has launched a new online form which applicants should now use to make case-specific inquires. This new online form can be accessed through Citizenship and Immigration Canada's website by clicking the link below:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/canada/csu.asp

If you submitted your application within the last six (6) weeks, the CSU will not respond to your enquiry . You must ensure at least six (6) weeks have passed since you submitted BEFORE contacting the CSU.

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

Yay. So rather than having to wait on the phone to be told "Your case is under review, you will hear within 33 weeks", you can now spend a few minutes filling in an online form to be told in writing "Your case is under review, you will hear within 33 weeks".

Genius! ;)

Hasib, do you think we should send out a email through this one to know our status? I bet they will not say the 33 weeks thing :). May be we'll hear in process or something. But we can ensure the applications are not lost or misplaced somewhere ???, and that they are in the right queue.

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.
i think we should wait till February instead of sending any email right now. If February passes without PER then u can take action.

Wayne, would you suggest me to use this one now to check the status? It's been 10 weeks since our application was received. I wouldn't mind if they say the 33 weeks again. Just wanted to know they have put my application in the right place and have not misplaced it somewhere :)

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

A minute ago I had used the same link... to check my application status... I'm hoping to receive some positive reply soon.

Cheers! Raj.

Oh man!

This sure wasn't a fun day. Must have been nerve-racking for those waiting for PERs... Sure hope CIO works tomorrow. Maybe we should call our favorite phone number and ask what their Holiday schedule is going to be, so we don't hang around for no reason... I'm betting they'll answer 33 weeks :)

Cam

Has your bank order or CC been cashed? If so then I would advise not contacting them yet, since we already know the timelines for getting PER are around 15 weeks to 16 weeks. If you find your expected PER date slipping behind and you still haven't heard then I would contact them at that point.

I think this email facility might be handy for anyone who cannot tell if their bank draft has been cashed or not (so they can at least be assurred CIO have the application), and also for those applicants like made711 and robin_1986 and zint who dates have slid through the "blue zone" and are rightly anxious about the state of their application.

I think an official email facility is a good idea since emailing CIO is a lot cheaper than spending 20 minutes on hold on an international phone call.

Wayne.

Thanks Indira for update.

Mayank

Hi Wayne,

Yes, after a fight of 25 days, i was able to get the info from the bank about the BD en cashment. Finding it difficult to cope up with this waiting for uncertainty though! At least i know when to expect a response, it must be before end of Jan 2011 :)

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

Yeah I can understand your anticipation, but I cannot see what querying CIO before the expected PER date is going to achieve, other than to get a standard "your application is under review" response and cause extra admin for CIO.

Currently we've seen most PERs come out between 106 and 112 days. Now, the Christmas and New Year break will probably add a little onto that - but I think most people should expect to receive their PER within 120 days of their application being received. i.e. 4 months at the latest.

So if we get into February and you haven't heard anything, that IMO would be the time to start contacting CIO. Up to you of course :)

Wayne.

I think it makes sense to wait atleast 4 months before actually going ahead and contacting CIO if your CC/BD has been encashed. I remember reading in CIC's website once that one should refrain from contacting them before a stipulated processing timeline. Though they have set-up a dedicated department up there now but I would still feel they would be mainly concerned for people who haven't heard from CIO since 4-5 months post receiving their applications and would just have a canned reply for the rest of applicants.

And as rightly mentioned by Wayne, it shall be an add-on administrative task for them.

I read this thread, may be people would find this intresting - the way few people exploiting the rules

OK thanks. Perhaps it would be possible to have some kind of column or flag on which members are from the arabic forum, so in future I can double check with you before turning them red?

Best wishes.
Wayne.
