The problem as I see it, is that the "application limit" may well have already been crossed. However, CIC have no way of telling this until they have completed the eligibility reviews on at least 20,000 post June 26 applications, and all the evidence currently suggests they have yet to start them.

So by the time CIC deems 20,000 eligible for processing, they could well have actually received many more applications that this (30,000 or 40,000 etc).

Wayne.

Now my REAL worry starts :( :(

Indira - No need to worry till CIO publishes that CAP is over.

Today it is off in Canada - Thanks giving day....hence no update expected in anycase for anyone

Indeed just because the limit may have already been reached it doesn't mean that it has. Even CIC probably do not know. They know how many total applications they've received but they do not know how many of those are eligible for processing.

So even if they've received 30,000 applicants it does not mean the "limit" has been reached.

So my advice for anyone is to apply as quickly and accurately as you can. CIC will surely announce on their website once THEY know that the limit is reached, so they will want to minimise having to send back applications they keep flooding in.

Hi Anil,
Thanks for your quick reply. When you say 'except for photocopies of PA, Spouse, Children' (highlighted in 'red') - are you talking about 'Schedule-1' AND 'Additional Information' sheet/IMM5406'? If not, what is this document you are referring to?

USPS - is the equivalent of Indian post office money order. They do offer international money orders, but limit it to USD 700. So i thought i would get two $550 international money orders. Does it make sense?
Thanks

Dear Harvin

My fault....I meant Photocopies of Passport. CIO set must contain Principal Applicant's PP photocopy (bio data pages). Whereas in VO set, we have to submit photocopies of PA + spouse + dependent's Passport. And it again depends on the Visa Office specifc requirement - whether full set OR only Bio data pages of PP!!! Don't forget to notarize all the photocopies!!!

I honestly don't know if International Money Orders are acceptable ....... if it is exactly like Indian PO Money Orders, then it may not be accepted ....... because here the criteria is....... the acceptance / charging of CC/ encashing of BD is approved only after the application is accepted..... and I don't think this criteria applies for USPS. ALSO, I have a doubt that you can break your payment into 2/3 different USPS/BD.... it has to be one instrument

Dear members.... please throw some light on the 2nd issue

Cheers, Anil

Thanks again Anil, for clarifying the set of documents. Regarding notarization, the VO checklist (Buffalo in my case - E37048) clearly states the following

"Gather documents as listed. Check () each item on the checklist and attach the checklist to your photocopied documents (a paper clip will do). Place all documents in a sealed envelope. Do not send originals unless otherwise stated. If your documents are not in English or French, send a notarized (certified) translation with a copy of the originals."

Since passport copies are all in English, and pretty much every other document like Birth certificate, Marriage certificate is in English, I was planning on NOT notarizing anything unless it meets the condition above. Am I misinterpreting the directions? Guidance is greatly appreciated.

Hey Bro

That was quick. You have not misinterpreted. Our VO (ND) specifies the same ...except an addition in between :o :o - "Gather documents as listed. Check () each item on the checklist and attach the checklist to your photocopied documents (a paper clip will do). Place all documents in a sealed envelope. Do not send originals unless otherwise stated. Send notarized photocopies of all documents except the police certificates, which has to be originals. About USPS...you have to see for an alternative....... BTW your country of residence...??

Indira, please be mindful of 1,000 NOC cap within this total 20,000 (your spouse's NOC appears to be rare), in addition to Wayne's comment on eligibility.

with all the quality you put into your application, I trust it should just 'fly through' all stages!

You did your best towards better life within the shortest possible time frame, so now cool down and join the club of PATIENT applicants who wait for another step ;D

Oh thanks Coffee :) Sounds great to hear my application flying through stages and not back home :D :D :D.

Please let me into the club guys :). What time frame are we looking at? As discussed widely, my wild guess is, MAX 8 months to see the Maple Leaf ;), with the 120 days shave off given by VOs.

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

Hi Anil,
Thanks for the clarification. I am in USA.

Regarding money order, I am trying to talk to Citibank and see how I can get cashier's check, this is turning out to be a bigger pain than anticipated. In US money orders are slightly different, they are almost like Demand Draft equivalent. Am I right in assuming that sending a USD550 certified check will cause my application to be rejected?

I see in some forums they have rejected, some have been accepted, but in most cases it was pre-jun-26, when the visa office was Buffalo, New York, and hence they would have had no problems in cashing a USD certified check. With CIO, and them saying Canadian funds, it is tricky!

Going crazy here with all last minute arrangements, hope to send out all the docs by wednesday/thursday.

Thanks

Dear Harvin

It's really surprising that you are not able to get a BD for CAD 1100 ... that too from USA :o :o ..... don't think otherwise!!!
Why don't you go for CC ....... most of the people from USA are using CC and moreover you will come to know about your application status immediately....!!!

Cheers, Anil

Yep what a relief it is now :D :D.. I strongly believe our application will make it into the CAP 8) 8)(at least as the 1000th or 20000th application :P :P :P :P :P)

Thanks,

Hi Anil,

Actually, I re-read USPS money order, for Canada they are issuing only USD money orders :( - and 99% of the time USD/CAD does not matter at all. I just do not want to run the risk of app getting returned just because of this.

Using 'CC' - after what happened to another poster (Maani?) I am really wary of using cc. Call me risk-averse :) ?

Another question on Schedule-1, for question #10 'type of certificate' - what have you indicated for XII - "Higher Secondary Course certificate"?

Thanks again for your help.

Dear Amro / Alex

You people are doing great. While going through other threads .... and people contacting directly (via chat, PM & mail), I have the following applicants (& details), who are not listed -

1. Wonder / 11 Sept / Moscow / 1122 / charged (source unknown)
2. Dr. Hasib / 14 Oct (dispatched today) / 3113 / Singapore
3. paddy78 / 1122 / 15 Sept / New Delhi / BD
4. Majorpain / 1122 / 24 Sept / New Delhi / BD / PCC submitted
5. Malik / 1122 / 09 Oct / New Delhi / BD / PCC submitted
6. mani5553 / 1122 / (date???) / New Delhi / BD / PCC submitted

Kindly do the needful ...... now the registered applicants will be 114 :D

Cheers, Anil

Dear friend

Maani case was one of the rarest cases ....and one can't expect the same to happen even 2nd time..... ;) ;) ;) They have clearly mentioned for CAD........ and if you feel "and 99% of the time USD/CAD does not matter at all " ....please go ahead with that!!!

I have mentioned for XII as "Senior Secondary".
