Hi Team,

I'm Bindu , new to this thread in this forum.
My Application was recieved by CIC on Aug 5th 2010, my SOL in 3152. I have sent my PCC (Bangalore), BD ICICI Bank (26/07/10), sealed transcript, birth certificate (BC), spouse experience , BC and other requested details. I havent got any communication from CIC , waiting eagerly for the AOR, will let you all know if I get any info/ communication.

Luckily while I was browsing the following link of google spreadsheet (https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AoMNoUGlfn4mdE55Yml3cmxLd1hCR3RlQmIwenBkQ3c&hl=en&authkey=CNqatbgL#gid=0 ) I was able to chat with Anildaa online (google documents feature) and he has updated my details in the spread sheet.

Thanks a lot Anil

Regards
Bindu

Guys, remember Josh's story

It gave me so many hints. One to share is possibility to get Canadian certificate/course/diploma in your speciality even before arriving.
Here is general link: learn4good.com/distance_learn/distance_learn_canada.htm

I think it is very wise to do something in order to receive decent work. Moreover, you can choose the significance of your degree according to your time and money possibilities. In any way, I think we have to ensure our future.

I recalled my package only few hours before it was supposed to be delivered on 28th morning. It was sent back to me on the same date and then i got it back on 2nd october. Its not unlikely that we et package from USA and canada in 3-4 business days. Its actually quite usual. And Sunday is a working day in my country.

However, i did pay around $200 for this recall procedure.

I am happy you took the option to recall your package, and like I said earlier, it will only cost you more money now, but in the long term you would have saved yourself a lot more problems that could cost far more than 200 bucks. Hope you take care of all the little details as fast as possible, so you can your application back in the CIO.
GOODLUCK!!!!

Yes Anil...knowing that the application of one of the AOR recipient (“Jaggy’) only reached CIO on 25th June 2010, certainly makes me more optimistic that we may start to hear positive news in the coming weeks.

Incidentally thought you have already sent your application? Don’t see an update of it receipt date in the spreadsheet.

Cheers.

In any way, I think we have to ensure our future.

It’s a timely reminder to make sure that we need to go there prepared - as whatever idealism or optimism we possess, whether young or not so young, whether with a string of qualifications and experience or not, it does not guarantee success.

I recall many years ago, during my school days, when I was first introduced the concept of a SWOT Analysis; which is the first letter of these 4 words - Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, & Threats. I believe it’s very relevant here. In being prepared, we need to understand our strengths and weakness, and how the environment we are going to would provide us the opportunities and threats we would face. With that we establish our “road map” to address the concerns – which as was pointed out includes validation of our qualifications, upgrades, etc. While this may not guarantee success or totally prepare us for every eventuality, it nevertheless will help.

There is something else that is equally important, and that is a network; which is more critical if we do not have any kin or family there. Many a times, friends whom I know who have already made the journey, have stressed the importance of establishing a network well before your landing. The person may well be another forumer, or someone who has already landed, or even the person sitting next to you while on your way to make your landing.

While there will be many more who will be waiting to fleece you, there are also quite a few who would be willing to extent their hand to help you – be it to guide you on your first few days, or whose children will help your child adjust to the new neighbourhood or in school, or even to help you get that first job. Of course, and hopefully, once you are settled, you too will do your bit to reach out to the next wave of migrants in need of help.

Cheers.
