This piece comes from Attorney David Cohen's office newsletter which gives more information about Kenney's plan to seek for legislating away FSW application backlog.
It seems that CIC is working with provinces to clear some of the backlogs as an option. It is still not clear which kinds of backlogs (application years, occupations, etc), CIC may propose for legislation away. If the government proposes that option, can it be easily passed?
It is obviously not good news, particularly for applicants with snail speed visa offices such as Buffalo, London, etc.


Canadian Immigration Minister Jason Kenney suggested Wednesday the possibility of legislating away Canada’s backlog of immigration applications.

"We’re looking at all options for dealing with these backlogs… It’s not fair to [applicants] and it’s not fair to our economy," said Kenney.

The federal government has already moved in this direction: according to the Montreal Gazette deals have been struck with eight provinces and territories to sort through the backlog of Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) applications to move qualified applicants (who are interested) to these province’s Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). Applicants will have to adhere to different criteria for each province, which can be different than the original qualifying criteria of the FSW applications.

According to the Globe & Mail, Minister Kenney described a vision of Canada moving towards an expressionist system, whereby "applicants would consent to having their application sifted by businesses and the provinces, to see who might be wanted where."

The gist of Kenney’s comments suggest the government aims to find ways to significantly reduce the government’s backlog of immigration applications, while providing a more responsive and quicker process in the future, especially to better match up potential immigrants with the provinces and employers who need them.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is selectively contacting applicants from the FSW program when they are eligible to be moved to a PNP program. For example, in the case of Ontario, some applicants from the following occupations are being contacted to see if they are interested in immigrating under the Ontario PNP:

NOC 2171 – Computer Analysts and Consultants
NOC 2173 – Software Developers
NOC 2174 – Interactive Media Programmers and Developers
NOC 1112 – Financial and Investment Analysts
NOC 2161 – Mathematicians
Other provinces may be dealing with the application process differently.

Today morning one my friend attend an interview at NDVO,

Visa officer is not convinces with the experience certificates in any how,

he is pharmacist working at medical store, and attended one international seminar at US, so officer believes that one research oriented person how can work in medical store ?

He also give them one gov. approved certificate regards his job

finally he told my friends that we will inform you regards you application

what should he understood ?

Take DD from SBI and open a bank account in Canada once you go there.
It saves money & time (better exchange rate, DD charges of Rs500/- + 0.1% of value)
For CAD 40,000/- it worked out to be Rs.1168/- only
The application courier charges of scotia bank from India itself is Rs.1,500/-

Ya your docs must have reached... didn't u ask your DMP to tell you details? We had asked them and they gave us the courier tracking number and we could know the exact date n time of it reaching NDVO... anyway all the best... thanks for ur wishes ;D I wish you too ooh la la la with your med line in the next week ;D
