I wonder if there is any criteria that qualify ones file to be transferred to LA !
I live in California and I am curious to know if there is a specific trend in that regard !!?

Me guess: It could be area specific.

Thanks,

Hi guys,

My application has been RBVO (Buffalo) since March '11. I added my wife to my application in June of 2011. Now we have a baby girl who's Canadian ( born here in Canada), so I am just wondering if her birth certificate is enough to add her to my application or if I would need to wait to get her passport? Also does the $150 application fee apply here? I haven't heard from Buffalo yet, actually e-mailed them to ask same thing. I would appreciate your input please

First of all, Congratulations on your new family member.

Multiple questions here. Let me answer one-by-one.

1) Birth Certificate is enough.
2) Fee - not required.

I know these for sure because, I have a 3 month old baby boy and I updated my application which is @ buffalo VO since March 2011.

Thanks,
satya.

Congratulations on the arrival of your new baby. Kindly complete the Generic Permanent Residence Application and the Additional family information forms and submit it along with the Birth Certification as soon as her International Passport comes out.

Please note that you the processing fee of s150 is excepted since she is a Canadian.

For affirmation,consult CIC website.

Best wishes,

Spicey

Guys,

Spicey, I think your info is incorrect. Please see the details below.

This is the email that I received earlier when I tried to add my kid's name to my application. Understand clearly on what you want. Please look at the NOTE section below which is written for Canada born kids.. meaning canadian kids.

=====================
Dear Madam / Sir,

In order to add your child to your application, we require the following documents:

1) processing fee for your child (if accompanying you to Canada)
2) your child's birth certificate
3) copy of your child's valid passport
4) 3 recent photographs of your child
5) updated IMM0008 Generic for yourself and updated IMM5406 “Additional Family Information” form for yourself and your spouse.
6) a “Certificat de Sélection du Québec” for your child ( in his or her name), if you wish to immigrate to the province of Québec (http://www.micc.gouv.qc.ca/fr/index.asp)
7) Copies of the original documents with original certified translations into English or French are required. All documents must be sent by mail or fax (see fax number and address below).

Your child must undergo a medical examination. We will send you the appropriate form upon receipt of the documents listed above. Be aware that even non-accompanying dependants must undergo medical examinations.

Application forms, fees schedule, payment methods and photo specifications are available on our Web site www.buffalo.gc.ca.

Any changes to your situation will likely affect processing times of your file.

You must also take into account that the amount of money that you need to have to support your family is determined by the size of your family and the cost of living in Canada. Therefore, as your family size has changed, you must increase the amount of settlement funds required to immigrate to Canada. For more information go to: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

Important: Note that if your child was born in Canada or if one parent is a Canadian citizen, the child is a Canadian citizen. If that is the case, you do not need to add the child to your application, no medical examination or fee is required. You must, however, send us a copy of the child's birth certificate. You should also contact the Consular section of the Canadian Embassy nearest to you to make sure the child has the appropriate travel document. See this webpage for information:
http://www.voyage.gc.ca/faq/birth_naissance-eng.asp

We will contact you if there is any further information we require.

Canadian Consulate General Buffalo

I hope this info helps.!!!

Yes, they accept By email also. Please mention all the necessary details in your email.

Details like.
1) Why this email - New born baby etc etc.
2) Reference Number
3) Baby full Name
4) Baby DOB.

Attachment: Scanned copy of birth certificate.

Agreed that baby name and dob are in the birth certificate but its ok to furnish in the email so that they can understand the context easily.

Thanks,
satya.

Hey kkr,

I didn't had any interview but they have asked the same thing to submit all my marriage ceremony photos & post marriage photo's as well & documents that establish my relation with my spouse... So i did the the same submitted all ceremony pics & in additions ceremony DVD's as well, with that my insurance, my medical policies, marriage certificate (which i did submitted earlier also) etc whatever documents that I can gather having my spouse name as nominee on it... In interview inspite of communication skills they might also check that are you ready to face challenges in the early years of the immigration to Canada...

Don't worry & be confident everything is going to be just fine...
Best of luck..
God bless
