Have been given 30 days to submit the passport and also to send 2 passport size photos for all the family members

Made a short landing in Toronto on Tuesday evening and located the house I had arranged to stay in. Found the place (rate is between 30-50 dollars/night for different rooms) while exploring my accomodation options using kijiji.ca website. The room I chose (40 dollars/night) serves my purpose cos it has its own bathroom and toilet, a telephone, wireless internet and an old skool TV.
Went out yesterday and obtained my SIN number, opened a bank account, spent time with someone who went through my resume and taught me how to write my CV the Canadian way. Went round town a bit just to have a feel of the place. So far so good I guess I've addressed the basic things that need to be addressed. Wishing everyone waiting for news and those already with their visa's only the best as you look forward to a new beginning in Canada.

I have dropped our PPs yesterday and hope to collect them in 2 weeks time.
By God's grace, we are planning our move 1st or 2nd week in December.
Which airline did you use? I need to buy tickets for 5 people.

It took about 5 minutes to dropped them.

One of my friend who is a diabetic, has applied for PR and is waiting for the medical requests is concerned that when he receives the medical request, after medicals he will be declared unfit. Do you think Diabetes is a cause for rejection on medical grounds.

Though it has been addressed to Mitali to answer, I thought I would throw in some insights.

Any pre-existing condition which is a threat to "Canada", is usually a reason for rejection. For example, a person with TB or HIV.

Diabetes is curable (next to completely), and anyone with diabetes dependant on Insulin is completely safe.

I have known a freind with similar condition (diabetes dep.on insulin) and he never had problems in moving to Canada.
He is now happily settled there.

Waw that's great news, Congrats brother and all the best in the coming challenges, I just have one question, how long it takes from the time the line: Medical Results Have been received to the PPR, PLEASE ADVICE ME BROTHER, I just have received this line today in my E-CAS.

My medicals line appeared on 10 Oct . After that the RPRF/Indian PCC reached them on 19 Oct and then the FBI PCC reached 25 Oct.
The PPR finally came on 3 Nov. Hope that helps

thanks kumm, i will pass on this info to my friend who is worried and this anxiety is making his diabetes levels higher. now he can cool down.

Congrat Avi, finally you got it. Send PP right away and you will get it back in 10 days. I landed on Nov 1 in Mississauga and was busy with doing paperwork. let me know when you get here.

thanks Goherd. I will be getting the photos done today and plan to send the PP tomorrow.
I am also comtemplating whether to go to Buffalo and get the stamping done myself.

Question to all friends

Is Nov24 a Holiday in Canada? Its Thanksgiving in United stated and the next day is Black Friday.
Do you know if government offices will be closed on Nov24 and 25th in Canada. Pls Reply
