One more thing. I have E... number and I never asked CIO about my status before receiving PER.

My theory: Those who requested status info before PER received B... number based on their paper file (as CIO looked at them and have to give some/any number to it).

Those who never asked, received this number only during PER issuing and this number was based on electronic file already. E - means electronic application.

Let's support this theory by examples!!!!
Nope. We never contacted CIO once, and we have a B number. The first communication we have from them was when we received our PER.

Because the link to the spreadsheet, plus more useful links - can be found on the home page of my blog and I have linked my blog. I felt it better to do that since that way I can provide more links.

Wayne.

Hi,

As the status says "I'm a newbie"! Would appreciate any and all help.

My online status says "We received your application for permanent residence on September 21, 2010". Does this mean I have a PER?

If not, should I be worried? I've seen the excel sheet and its obviously taking longer than most to get a PER.

FYI: BD was en cashed in Aug 2010. ILETS results sent. Police Clearance not yet.

Thanks Guys

Dear forumers, just to inform you.

I have received a reply to my inquiry to the VO and they say the followings:
... we do not have an application for permanent residence in our office. It is possible that an application was very received but not yet created in our database. Please rest assured that an Acknowledgement of Receipt letter (AOR) will be sent to you if and when an application for permanent residence is received.

That means the local VO is going to send AORs for post-June applicants as soon as they have received the files from CIO, NS.

In my view you will receive PER very soon. Just curios how they could charge BD in August if they receive your file in September?

1. Client ID Number

You will find this number on official documents issued to you from a Citizenship and Immigration Canada office, Case Processing Centre or visa office where you submitted your application. Your "Client ID Number" has four numbers, a dash (-), and four more numbers. (Example: 0000-0000).

2. Immigration File Number

You will find this number on any official document issued to you from the visa office where you submitted your application. Your "Immigration File Number" starts with the letter "B", and is followed by nine numbers. (Example: B000000000).

3. Receipt Number (IMM 5401)

You will find this number on the document that was filled out and stamped when you paid your fees at a financial institution or on the official receipt you obtained when you paid your fees on the Internet. Your "Receipt Number (IMM 5401)" starts with a letter, followed by nine numbers. (Example: B000000000).

Hope that helps. Can they be using immigration file number and receipt number interchangeably?

I don't think the Receipt No above is correct. Our receipt number, as per our PER (no pun intended ;)) is a 10 digit number, with no letter at the start.

Wayne.
