Update! My file transferred to NYC VO.

Finally some movement from Buffalo. I sent a job update letter to BVO yesterday and received the following email...

On January 10, 2012 in order to expedite the processing of your application, your file has been sent to:

Canadian Consulate General

1251 Avenue of the Americas

Concourse Level

New York, New York 10020-1175

fax: 212-596-1791

e-mail: NewYork-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca

The Canadian Consulate General in New York will complete the analysis of your application and determine if a personal interview with a visa officer is required. Your file number remains the same.

The Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo no longer has your file. Therefore we cannot acknowledge or respond to future correspondence from you. Please do not submit any further documents or correspondence to this office. If IELTS or TEF test results are sent to us, they will be forwarded to the Canadian Consulate General in New York.

In the event of a change in your address, marital status or family composition, you must inform the office noted above. Do not use the CIC e-Cas on-line change of address system. Your new address will not be downloaded to your file in New York.

Do not request the status of your file within ninety (90) days of the date of this letter.

All future correspondence you receive will be from the office noted above.

Please update!

Mark

Hi Mark:

Great news for you, Congratz ;D, could you please say what state you live in?
Also, how did you update them, if by email, which address did you use?
Thanks,
Cam :)

Thanks Rod.

It feels good to actually have something happen. I'm sure that everyone has the same lingering fear that their file will just get skipped over like many of the pre-June 26 2010 apps were. I am certainly relieved!

What's one to expect after transfer from BVO to Local VO as far as timeline, etc.? I never really paid much attention to it, as it didn't seem like it was ever anything that would happen to me.

Mark

Congratulations,
Medical in on the way :)

Canadestin,

It is more about where you live. Cost of living depends on the place you live and your requriement.

I pay these every month.
Rent: 2 bed room condo: 1400/month
Mobile(s) - 2: 60/month
Insurance: 35/family (corporate insurance: medical and dental. OHIP covers every thing. I dont know how much if OHIP doesnt cover)
Internet/TV: 35/month + 15/month (Telugu channels only).
Petrol: 100/month(i dont use car for work)
Go Train Pass: 167/month
Grocerries: 500~600 Approx
License: Ontario (Some times they exchange the license which costs about 100$ only.) - This is one time fees.

Thanks,
satya.

Hold on.. if I have understood your message correctly, they sent you an update (file transferred) only after you gave an update to them on your file.

You sent an email on Jan 24th and they sent a reply saying your file is transferred on Jan 10.. Does this mean, they are not sending an update unless you ask for it?? >:( :(

Satya.

You are correct. I would never have known unless I had sent an email to BVO. :o

Thanks! I hope so. :D

Mari,

Are CEC applications processed in Ottawa ? I was under the impression that visa offices handle them.

Nope. ECas still RBVO and, "We received your application for permanent residence on October 14, 2010.

We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on February 10, 2011. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us."

Ok. I also sent my daughter's birth certificate and reminded them my old address was still showing on e-cas, they updated it to the new one after a couple of hours - but I am still RBVO too.

There is a special thread for Buffalo >> NY transfers, you might want to follow that thread as well to see everyone's timeline, but it looks that med request is happening within a month of the transfer.

Thank you Mark, so technically Detroit would have been a better VO for you than NY, I mean it is somewhat closer. I don't understand how they choose which VO to send the applications to. One would think the VO that is closest to the applicant, in case there is an interview. So many things make no sense at all :)

By the way Buffalo friends what is the difference with these two email addresses. Some people get contacted by one and others by the other, anyone have a clue??
