Although we're going to Toronto, we're thinking of moving to Niagara by the lake or St Catherine's in a years' time. All up in the air still.
Yup, next month, 19th July!
Cheers,
Rahul.

Hope you will settle in a nice job before even we land :)

Choose VANCOUVER!!!!

I wish we did, we have too many friends in Seattle and it would be great if we settle there. The reason why we are hesitating to land there is that it might not be as easy for us to get a job, and if that happens, we will have to shell out a hell lot of our hard earned money during the initial months..

But in TO, I'm hopeful that either of us will land up in a job in a month's time and so, we can settle better..

Either way, we will have to land before winter to ensure the kid gets used to the climate and environment. That means we just have a couple of months time :o :o

We are thinking if we are not able to wrap up things before that, all of us might land before Sept, and I'll stay back. Prab and kid will return to India and come back after a couple of months.

This part of my life, is called confusion ??? ::) :-[ :-X :-\ :'(

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

Hi Indira

Congratulations for your DM. It was quite fast in your case. I am very happy for that. BTW, We completed our medicals on 30th May, 2011 and mailed all the documents to CHC, New Delhi today.

Confusion or cold feet Indira? I trust you are leaving home and your ties behind for the first time and it can be emotionally challenging, but from experience i can say it is worthwhile to make a change as soon as possible and get it over with. It will get harder if you keep prolonging it.

I can say this from experience as i left India 16 years ago and since moved on to two countries.

I think your agent is full of crap. How does he know?

London are clearing moving on post-June-2010 as we've had Wendy and Amro receiving medical requests in the past few days, and Danish with passport requests a couple of weeks ago. And all visa offices are currently prioritising post-June-2010 applications.

Now, they seem to be doing nothing at all with pre-June-2010 at the moment. If they aren't working much on post-June-2010 applications for 8 months then what they hell are they doing to be doing for the next 8 months, getting a sun tan outside? :)

Wayne.

Totally agree with you Wayne...Even I have applied through a consultant and he sure is full of crap...Most of the consultants especially here in Dubai are just doing the work of a lazy postman and nothing else apart from talking b******t. Excuse my french but these consultants talk from there ass... >:(

Well, Prab has lived in UK for 5 years and me for a couple of years already :P :P..

The Thing is Prab has his partnership firm here. It might take a while for him to decide what to do with that. Also we just moved into our brand new flat in Chennai and we have a whole lot of stuff to wrap up ::)..

One thing is we are not thinking of selling everything and close ties here.. You know how things work in India. Everything will remain as is while we just change our place of residence.

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

Well for people who are going to Vancover, this is an interesting roller coaster ride

A small advice, Rent Rent Rent- Dont buy.

Very nice link kolhapuri, thanks. Like many here I am also debating where to land... if ever Buffalo wakes up and my family is given our visas. It seems to me that Canadian lenders did not go "wild and crazy" in early 2000, like their US and European counter parts. When the collapse of the real estate markets took place and bubbles burst in 2006, Canadian home prices initially took a dip. Shortly thereafter it became evident that Canadian bankers had been conservative and lenders did not have many risky loans on their books. The enthusiasm that followed created another bubble in Canadian real estate market, as prices shot up even more.

Now there are many economists predicting a sharp decline in prices in the next few years. In my view it all hinges on what happens in the US, if they go into a double dip recession they will certainly drag the Canadian economy and real estate prices down... I personally can't believe the US economy is not in a double dip recession already, it sure looks like they are holding it up with smoke and mirrors... I will certainly go with your advice to rent in the near future... and maybe buy gold on dips...
