Hi

I was going thru application procedure. I am applying through skilled woker category. I have few questions and I would really appreciate
answers few of them understand but I want to make sure.

1. Is it required to notarize photocopy of biodata page of passport for the application

someone more experienced can correct me if i am wrong but i am not bothering notarizing my supporting documents. it seems to me that most documents that the CIC requests can't be notarized per the excerpt below from the State of Maryland's Public Notary handbook. plus they are going to get the original of the passport down the line, if your case gets to the acceptance stage.

For critical docs, such as evl, bank statements, i am sending originals. for translated docs such as bc, i am sending a notarized translation. and for the rest, i am just sending copies. for example, i am sending a university sealed copy of my transcript, and a copy of my diploma.


A notary public is required to provide a certified copy of any record
in his or her office upon demand and upon payment of the $2.00
fee. Ordinarily this would mean a certified copy of a record in his
or her fair register of official acts.
A notary public has no authority to certify a copy of a public
record, a publicly recorded document, a school record or diploma, a
professional license, or any other public or private document or
record which does not pertain to the notary public's official acts.

You don't need to notarize the university sealed transcript anyway. Since you cannot notarize in Maryland, if i were you, i would write a letter to say why you can't get it certified in Maryland.
