Hi,

I'm an immigrant aspirant to Canada who applied last June 2010.
Unfortunately, my husband and I were three weeks short of applying under the new immigration policy after June 26, 2010.
We have heard news that they are prioritizing ONLY the new applicants under this new policy.

Is it possible to withdraw my current application and re apply under the new policy??
(provided the our skill is still in the new occupation list for this July 2011.)

is there any possibility of rejection?
We're just trying to explore other options because having to apparently wait for another two years (which a lot of people project would actually be 6 years) is excruciating and a total waste of time.

Please help!

Applying and withdrawing are 2 different mutually exclusive actions.

You can apply again under the new rules WITHOUT withdrawing your old application. This is advisable in fact if you are able to get all your documents together etc. Even if you withdraw your application I do not think that you will get all your supporting documents back - probably just original IELTS test etc, and it is likely to take several months to even get that back to you.

My advice is to either wait it out with your current application - or submit a new application after 1st July if your occupation is still on the list and leave your current application also running.

When either of those applications gets to the medical requests stage, CIC will ask you to withdraw the other.

Best of luck.

Well said WAYNE ..!!

Cheers...

i did the same, without withdrawing my old application i submitted a new one with out any problem. i recently applied for a visit visa as well and mentioned both of my applications (old+new) in visa application form and i have been granted a visit visa. i heard that once u've applied for immigration chances of visit visa are very rare but still i tried my luck and got that.

When did you apply? Please notify the old and new dates of application. Is it necessary that one has withdraw the old application if new application is to be launched?.
