application to extended stay .... OWP

Hi guys, you have all been very kind, im applying for spouse sponsorship and i currently have an OWP (open work permit), it is a about to expire in a few months, so im applying also for an extension. now i only have a question on this part....

im sure is a commong application to fill out so im hoping someone knows the right answer for this one. thanks a lot again! i don't know how i would be able to figure out all of this without you guys

Before I can answer your question, what kind of an Open work permit do you have? IEC or PGWP?

If it's an IEC, you will not get "implied status" under IEC with an OWP application. You will only get "implied status" as a visitor once IEC expires.

As for PGWP, CIC says you can get "implied status" under PGWP. I reserve my answer as to whether they are right or wrong since "implied status" is granted through CEC PR, not through spousal PR process.
