My fiancee (Canadian) and I (German) are putting together my application for PR - Family Sponsorship - Common-Law (Inland). We are waiting on receiving some police certificates and a couple other documents so we won't be able to send in our completed application package much before the end of September/early October. I am currently in Canada on a temporary work permit that will expire in mid December of this year. Our plan is to also apply for a bridging open work permit. My concern is based on the documented timelines for receiving an AOR, I'm worried I won't get mine in time to send in my BOWP application before my work permit expires. If that were to happen would I still be able to stay 90 days as a visitor or would I have to apply for that separately? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! :)

What kind of work permit do you hold?

FYI - you won't qualify to apply for a BOWP. You would only qualify for a BOWP if you were applying for PR via the FSW, CEC or one of the provincial streams. Spousal sponsorship doesn't allow you to apply for a BOWP.

It may however be possible for you to get implied status by submitting an open work permit along with your inland application (depending on the type of work permit you hold).

Thank you Scylla for your reply! I have a 6 month temporary work permit as a sous chef.

I thought I read on here that family sponsorship applicants could also apply for BWOP?
