Hi there, I am trying to fill out the application to sponsor my parents to come to Canada from South Korea. I'm wondering about the 5000 applications limit per year. Does Immigration Canada just count the first 5000 applications and then reject everyone after that? Or if your application is number 5005 do they carry yours over to the next year? (or would u get a rejection letter and then have to try again the next year and re submit it?)

Only first 5000 go into process. 5001 and on are returned. Good news are that Liberals promised to bring it to 10,000 from next year (2016).
