Last week, I finally received DM on Ecas. Today, I received an e-mail from the Vienna office that our application is in the final stages of processing. So, my common law partner is American, however, we were living in Germany when we applied. We have since moved, I am in Canada and my partner is back in the US/"visiting" me in Canada basically until we get permanent residency for him.

I'm confused about why our application is now being sent to Vienna. We have updated our address with them. The e-mail stated that it was in the final stages of processing, although will it take longer for Vienna to process than in Ottawa? Does it matter? I feel like getting it in contact with anyone is just going to make the process take even longer :(

Well CIC does not seem to have a consistent reason for sending applications one place or another. It's supposed to be that if you are living in a country for over a year as a resident, they will send the application to the visa office of that country. Which, seems to be the case for you. You can try and request a change of VO, but if they do actually listen and tranfer it, that will add even more time to the processing while they send it.

I wouldn't worry, he's American so it's unlikely you will need an interview.

You have DM, meaning you are at the end of the process, so there is no point in trying to contact anyone about it now.
