You can certainly try, though I don't know for sure. Contact your member of paliarment's office to see what they can do to assist you. I just realised you also submitted a PNP application. Hope you have a positive outcome this time.

Ya. Will contact school first.

Can someone clarify if I have anything to worry about regarding my education requirement. I completed an undergrad degree as a transfer student. I have completed 4 regular semester (4 months each) and 1 summer semester (2 months duration) to a total of 18 months and obtained the bachelors degree from an university in Canada. Now as far as I know I qualify as I've completed the min 16 months requirement for an undergrad (post secondary) degree. correct me if I'm wrong. Any feedback appreciated.

Mr Singh

I feel like the information about the course online is misleading. It has led the VO to believe that a student registered full time should have completed the degree in 3 terms. Non-thesis based master courses can usually be finished in the number of terms mentioned on the website. Maybe that is what confused the immigration officer. Maybe a letter from the Dean or Faculty admin may help.

If you secure that letter ask for a lawyer or MP to appeal for you.

Yes, I am planing to do the same. The duration of the degree could be 3 - 5 terms and is not restricted to only 3 terms .

Can I send them the letter to Ottawa and see what they have to say or should go to MP or lawyer direct. Also, I have heard a lot about MP's helping i immigration process, to what extent its true and how much influence they have on Immigration matters?

My friend, from my experience I would highly recommend to get a supporting document from your school as a back up for your claim of 2 year duration of your education. You never know how would the Visa officer would interpret it without a letter from school.

I have just completed a masters course my self that can be completed in a year but then in the offer letter they say that you can complete it in 6 years. But as a full-time student - and I think with a few extra courses per semester you can complete the course in 1 year.

Did you loose your full time status during the term of the course.

Lawyers will study your case and in case he finds that VO has made a mistake - will appeal for your file to be opened. Mind you, if he/she is not a family friend this can indeed be very expensive.

MP will get your letter in-front of the right person in the consulate, and get you the answers you need.

I see that you have applied for PNP - I believe that PNP may be the cheapest and the fool proof way to go for you

I was full time student in all 4 semesters. Its just that the program was designed in such a way that it could be completed in 3 semestes if you take extra courses. Anyways, is it possible that I just send them the supporting document and they will start procesing the apliication from where they left, if in case they except my supporting document?

There is no harm in trying!

At-least the backup PNP, is still doing well for you!

Hello Singh07,

Sorry to hear about your refusal. I have applied under graduate stream based on my Masters program which is a 16 month program and awaiting decision on my case. I have included a letter from the director of my department which talks about the equivalency of my program to that of a 2 year program based on CIC website definition of 2 years of study i.e. 16 months of course work + internship (if included). When I was applying for my PGWP, a similar letter was issued for me which helped me get 3 year post graduate work permit otherwise I would have gotten just 16 months. Which proves that the program is considered 2 years worth of study if it’s at least 16 months of full-time studies.
Can you tell me when you filed your application and when you got the rejection please? Basically trying to understand how long it took for them to take a decision on your case.

Thanks and Best of luck!

You have 1 year education and the requirement is 2 years i.e 16 months. It will not qualify.

Singh07

I mean, i have gotten that certificate but also I am gaining Canadian Experience to fulfill the requirements, I remember that you could apply if you have 1 year fulltime + 1 year of full time work experience, i mean, I am not just applying with 1 year study...???

Terry,

CEC has two categories

1) Graduate stream - 2 years study and 1 year work experience

2) Temporary foreign worker - 2 years work experience
