stupid question, on the citizenship application it asks when did you move to canada, we have moved 6 month after landing to canada, the online calculator is refusing to accept the later date and considers our landing date as the day we moved to canada. How would i answer the question on the citizenship application?! according to the actual date or the citizenship calculator?! i am thinking the actual date makes more sense...

there should be two questions in the application - when did you become PR and when did you move to Canada. I would answer them accordingly with the proper dates.

Hi Basharar,

I had the same issue - here is what I did.

I put the actual date in the calculator.

Then on the portion which asks for absences, I put the date that I was out, the reason I was out and the location that I was out at.

For instance:
Actual Landed date: June 2008.

From June 2008 to December 2008 -(Country) USA (Reason) Completing work contract/completing kids school year/Wrapping up sale of home etc etc.

Hope that makes sense. I believe that is the correct way to fill out the calculator.

Also I think I know you from previous professional experiences :P - I will PM you.
