Application processing steps

Hi, can anyone please write or paste all the steps of the citizenship application processing? The ones that show up on your online board when you check your application status.
I'm only at step one ("we've rereceid your application and mailed a book"), but was wondering what are the next steps, was curious to see how many there are and if anyone shares their complete timeline, how long it can take for each of them. Thank you!

Hi, the "online board" aka. CAS (Client Application Status) will mainly change for/into three stages:
1) Received,
2) In Process, and
3) Decision Made

However, when you click any of the above stages - a new page will be loaded with the following notes, which will progress based on the current stage your citizenship application is at:

1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on xyz date (e.g. March 20, 2015).
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on xyz date (e.g. April 5, 2015.)
3. We started processing your application on xyz date (e.g. April 10, 2015).
4. We sent you a notice on xyz date (e.g. July 5, 2015) to appear and write the citizenship test on xyz date (e.g. July 21, 2015.) The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us. *Note: Citizenship and Immigration Canada does sometimes schedule events on Saturdays or Sundays.
5. We sent you a notice on xyz date (e.g. September 2, 2015) to appear and take the oath of citizenship at the citizenship ceremony to be held on xyz date (e.g. October 6, 2015). The notice you will receive will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.

The steps vary from one applicant to another. So far, here are the steps that show up on my ECAS:

1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on August 18, 2017.
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on September 18, 2017.
3. We started processing your application on October 3, 2017.
4. We sent you a notice on January 18, 2018 to appear and write the citizenship test on February 22, 2018 at 1:02 PM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.

Thank you for sharing, wow it does take 6 months for them to set up a test, was dreaming of faster timings

So when does the Fingerprint happen? And is it random or mandatory to everyone?

finger print can happen anytime between "in process" stage and after the test before the "decision made"(before or after the test). It is not mandatory. Only a selected few privileged applicants get it. ECAS gets updated with another line - We sent you correspondence on XYZ date....please wait for the correspondence and do it as soon as possible etc.

More rare is QA - Quality Assurance documentation request AND RQ - Residence Questioneer (documentation request). These are pain in the back.
QA and RQ is not updated on ecas.
