Hi everyone...

My spousal sponsorship parcel arrived at CPC-M on 30 January 2013. However up till today (11 March 2013) I haven't received any communications from the CIC about receipt of my parcel, and they're already working on 5 Feb 2013 applications.

When I reported this last week to an agent, one of the questions she asked was my parcel tracking number.

Anyone have any ideas how the protocol works exactly...??

1. Upon arrival, do their warehouse staff record the package tracking number in their computer system?

OR

2. When we give them the tracking number, would they just go to the courier's website (say, CanadaPost.ca) and find out the name of the person who signed for the package, and then ask them where the "lost" parcel is?

OR

3. Do they just look at the thousands of parcels in their warehouse, hoping to find the one that has our tracking code...?! (I hope they don't use this protocol, or else it would be ultra difficult to find 1 parcel buried amongst hundreds or thousands of others...!)

By the way, I was trying to offer the agent the following info:

1. The name of the person who signed for the package
2. Detailed descriptions of my parcel's physical characteristics

But she refused to have those info, because everything she asked for (arrival date, package tracking code) is enough, according to her.....that's really weird! Why wouldn't they want the physical descriptions and name of person who signed for it...!

probably (and this is a guess) because the tracking code will be on the parcel and if it was received by their mailing department it is probably put through an electronic system with that number. There could be 100's of 1000's of applications that look the same and also people with similar names and that is why they are not interested in the details, but every tracking number is unique

Good points!

Do you think their database keeps track which tracking number belongs to which storage compartment then? i.e.: tracking code abc123, the parcel is in storage/compartment room 1, etc...?!
