My current visitor status expired on May 24. and my application to extend stay as visitor was submitted online after midnight on May 25 at 1:30 am.

Should I attach an additional $100 to my application to make up for the $200 fee for restoration of status with a note indicating the late submission, Or would I need to update my application form from Extend my stay to Restoration of status as well?
I would really prefer to keep the application as extension rather than restoration.

I am not sure what's the best option.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi there,

It seems like you would only qualify for a restoration of status and not an extension since your application was submitted after your current permit had already expired. From what I know, there is a time difference if you’re not already in EST - this would mean that IRCC received your application a couple hours into May 25th.

This means you owe them $100 - I suggest calling IRCC to get an agent on the phone to see what your best option would be.

You can also pay the $100 online & then attach the receipt to a webform & send it that way. Maybe the agent will tell you to do the same but better check first. You don’t want to wait a couple weeks for them to link the webform to your application & your application to be denied.
