Since your OWP has been approved, you are on foreign worker status (so doesn't matter if your Visitor stay of 6 months has been over).

If you only require eTA to travel, you can have short trip outside of Canada. It's unlikely to be refuse entry for eTA holder with OWP.
BUT if that really does happen, then your PR sponsorship application would be cancelled.
So it's a small risk but it's a risk.
