Hi guys,

I am sponsoring my husband to move to Canada (Quebec). Does anyone know if he has to submit an application for selection of certificate for Quebec first and then I apply to sponsor him? How does it work because it is a little unclear for me.

The wording is unclear, yeah.

First put together ALL of your CIC sponsor forms (by the Canadian) AND applicant forms (by the spouse/partner being sponsored).

Send your whole PR sponsorship package to Mississagua according to the instructions.

If you are doing an Outland application you can see Processing Times: Family Sponsorship how long Step 1 (Sponsor Approval, aka SA) is taking, approximately.

When that timeline date gets close to the date that CIC received your application package, the sponsor should get an email from CIC with Sponsor Approval (assuming all goes well), and within that attached PDF will be the request that the applicant get their CSQ from MIDI.

Print off a copy of that PDF. Put together the application for CSQ from the MIDI site. Pay the fee. Send the checklist and all appropriate documents, including the letter from CIC requesting CSQ, to the appropriate address. It takes about a month (possibly even less) to get CSQ, from what I gather.

Bonne chance! :)

last year when i did it for my wife, it took less than 4 weeks. They are trying to have it done in less than 20 business days :) that is very quick compared to the rest of the process.

This is awesome, thanks for posting this. I've added it into my FAQ... which is mostly geared towards London applicants, but still is useful for most western outland applications. :) Thanks again!

thank you so much for the help!!! :)
