Hi Chandika,

Some are and some aren't... Personally I applied direct. I have heard of so many horror stories regarding agents/consultants. CIC website is very informative and this forum is a great resource which has provided me with so much help. You really don't need to go through agents.

All the best

PS: Good one!!! by goodhope

It depends however. In my case I self applied and they rejected my application. In such situations you should consult a lawyer to get through the first hurdle.

thanks guys, but i have heard that if you go through an agent after medicals they follow up and get you the visa's within a month. we also applied personally, and had our medi in feb end and now we are waiting for ppr. after analyzing the pattern of issuing visas by chc we feel assume that they would issue b4 end of three months after medi.

what do you think Await?

It varies from case to case. But yeah, I guess that's a safe assumption..... You should have your visa very soon. In my case I had lived out of SL in UK for over a year. Therefore I had to submit UK PCC and my background checks surely would have taken longer. My PPR took close 3months after medicals.

Regarding agents, I really can't comment. However I really doubt them having the ability to speed up processing before or after medicals. A good honest consultant can guide and assist you to prepare and submit/obtain information on your behalf.

Apologies if I sounded 'anti-consultant'. But I was helping two of my friends who had got wrong advice from consultants here in SL. In one case the party almost got rejected and was called to submit explanations to CIC because of incorrect advice by his agent. The more complicated the situation gets it more cash for the consultant. By means of appeals etc. I am sure NOT all consultants are like that. So to all who doesn't have the time to apply by them selves or for some reason would prefer to go through a consultant, make sure you find a good consultant who comes recommended and with plenty of experience.

Good Luck and all the best Chandika.

Hi Chandika,

I second Await's statement. I too don't believe that any consultant cans speedup the processing time. Only thing they can do is guide you properly to supply necessary info & docs to VO to avoid additional delay in processing. In certain cases I know consultations have helped applicants to get through in initial screening with CIO which is the tough part in the whole processing. On the other hand, there are many cases consultants have screwed up by supplying unfit data to VO.

In your case, since you have already done with your medical I would say you have crossed the peril zone & I don’t think so at this point, consultant can expedite the remaining process.

I hope you will get the passport request soon.
All the best.

Regards,
Aran.

I also agree with this point. Beyond CIU they can not do much. If you understand what CIU is doing you really dont need a consultant. In my case when I was putting down my job duties I put them down in my own wording. One thing I should have known is those officers in CIU are not experts in our professions and they only look for certain key words. If I have used the same words in NOC I would have through even from my self application. What the consultant did was he took my original application re word it to suite NOC. Then one more important thing they did was to explain why my first application rejected. That I would not have done even if I self applied again. In my view what you can do is self apply first and see if CIU accepts. Problem is now you have very limited opportunities. You dont have time to recover from mistakes.

hi, Chandrika

I dont beleive consultants can speed up the process.I know some members applied through Consultant also waiting(are you MI 3 applicant/when you applied).I have noticed there is delay for VISA of MI 3 all VO across the world other than India(you can see the google spread sheet in July Mi3 applicant thread created by Westpoint) I think this is because of the priority given to very old cases

Selection of consultant vs self application, depends on the individual choice and resources availability(Time/extra money/where you live).I think all must well aware about the system and ops manual. If your consultant do your document collection and everything then it is ok,provided that he is timely updated about the current selection system because it is being changed day by day.(But ours are consulting to make extra money and not so dedicated.I can point out 3 cases

One of my friend applied through Con(according to her he is the best one).He had said EPF/ETF balances cant be given as POF.But for me those balances well accepted and got PER

Two friends of mine apllied through con.one app was rejected due low marks as degree certificate had not been attached.Other got a call to provide the copy of NID card(lucky one).if he is a proff. Cons. he needs a seperate sheed made in accordance with the "VO specific instruction Colombo"to check the compleateness.

Basically our process has two parts

1 Collection of Doc
2 Form filling

If you can dedicate 3-5 day you can obtain docs easily(From Dpt Exams battaramulla/Registar General office Battaramulla(for birth Marrage Cert translation)PoliceCC from Petah-(bit time consuming). And Certification of these from Consouler General office at Fort.

Then you need a lawyer/JP for Photocopy certification.then its a matter of form filling
