Friends finally landed... But this jet lag screwed me up ....... Let me narrate my experience in detail....

Took Lufthansa flight from Mumbai to Calgary via Frankfurt...Mumbai to Calgary was painful ...If Mumbaikars or my fellow Indians who travel by holiday special trains would understand my agony!!! No individual screens on the seat...leg space was crammed..I paid $200 for extra luggage piece and it took them 1 hour to process the payment as CC terminal was playing up!! Was tired only by 9 hours of travel...
Second leg of the journey was completely opposite...Way too impressed coz they partnered with Air Canada!!! Enjoyed so much that forgot my previous 9 hours of agony

Landing queue was a bit longer due to 2 flights landing in quick succession....Question asked...why are you travelling to Canada? thats it!! Welcomed with a wide smile and requested to proceed towards Immigration counter...not many people queued up here so it was quick...But those before me were asked few questions like why have they arrived here...how long were they married...one Asian guy was being explained about his wrong visa and was being deported back!! made me nervous ...My turn and kaboom!!! only one question ...can you provide me a local Canadian address and that's it....landing papers processed and Welcomed to Canada

Went to the next counter...showed my good accompanied and goods to follow list...stamped and nothing asked!!!

Outside the Airport...As it was me and my wife with 5 check in bags + 2 cabin bags + laptop bag+ heaviest handbag carried by my wife ...we had to opt for a large van/taxi...lucky to find a Dodge Limo ( $ 50.00 Flat fee) which easily fit in all our luggage and voila we were on our way to the downtown longstay hotel ( hard to find a fully furnished accommodation - we were lucky enough to get the one last room)

Next day travelled to Marlborough Mall for SIN, Mobile connection ( As Downtown is still getting back from the flood damage)...

Now looking to complete my healthcare card , Job search and above all accommodation search after Canada day!!!

Thanks Bro...hang in there...Like everyone even I have been through the wait (albeit it was for a short period of time compared to many others) but keep yourself in a positive frame of mind and carry on whatever you are doing back home wholeheartedly without focusing too much on the outcome...trust me you will enjoy every news about your processing 10 times more!!

Ask Jaggy999 bro ...he had a wait for long timebut once his file moved he is as excited as he shud be...Morever be glad that you can save some money back home coz once you are here its another expedition to start searching for a job, house etc....

Hello we are also Indians and planning to come to Calgary, we have PR, can u pls share guide me that what type of luggage u have taken? I mean to say u had perfect size of branded Suitcase? We have purchase of American Tourister of 28”, is it compulsory to take branded and mentioned size luggage? We are very much confused.

--- Other question is regarding B4 forms can u give me detailed how u have fill up the forms? Have u mention in detailed for example Shirt, T-shirts,
Trouser or wrote CLOTHES, VESSELS, GROCESSARY, with approx amount?

--- How did u take money with u? by DD, Traveller Cheque or Cash?

If u have any other more information then pls guide me.

First of all congratulations on your PR...Now getting back to your questions..

Luggage - I am pretty sure 28'' inches for check in is fine..but also check your airline baggae specifications before purchasing any bags...there is no restrictions on what brand you buy while purchasing look at durability of bags...lighter the bags better weight you can utilise for packing the maximum weight of 23 kgs... We had 4 bags x 23kg each( prefer to buy the 4 wheels trolley bag as they are so convenient) plus we took an additional bag of 23 kg for US$200 at Mumbai airport. As well they allow 8 kg of cabin baggage plus laptop bag.

B4 Form - fill one form for accompanying goods which should include all electronic good with serial numbers including phones etc....for items on the list make groups like clothes ( including footwear) groceries, vessels, Jewelry with pics with approx value.
If you have goods to follow then fill up a separate form with individual amounts and end of the sheet total up the value for Customs to see....here you can add jewelry items which u think you might get in later but leaving them for now in India and add their pictures attached to the form.

Money - carry only cash for couple of days not more than 2000 CAD dollars as it is not safe to carry cash higher than that and once you open bank account here its easy to use bank cards for all transactions which is so safe and easy Balance money carry in TC or Drafts...I carried 5000 $ and found that a risky business... Plus its hard initially to get used to the coins in change
First thing after arrival, apply for SIN card and get a mobile connection...Then you can go to a bank to open an account...u get a bank card in minutes after opening ur account and u can deposit ur draft or TC's same time ( although it may take a while to reflect in ur account after processing of ur TC's or draft)


One more important thing... on the immigration card handed over to you in the plane before landing be honest in mentioning that you are carrying food ( if possible pack all food items in one bag as it saves u time if asked to open the bag).... it helped me randomly as not even a single bag of mine was opened to be checked

Once outside Airport, if you have heaps of bags look for larger cab or Limousine cabs ( Associated Cabs) as they charge flat $50 and believe me u will love their cars on ur journey from Airport to wherever your destination is to see beautiful Calgary

Depends which airline it is Please call them or check airline website... Lufthansa allowed us per person 2 pieces of luggage weighing 23kgs each.. We took 5th piece of 23kg ( actually it was nearly 24.5 kg but airline staff ignored it ) and paid extra luggage charge of US$ 200 ( charged per bag & they convert dollar rate of the day into rupees for us to pay)

Ans : One is a survival job fulltime & other one is a part-time CSR job in Shaw Direct which is in her field.

Ans: My field is Hospitality and experience is of 13 yrs in Events & Restaurants & bars. I have worked in India, UK & Australia before this and I am certainly looking for Management positions. So good things take time and I am blessed to be financially sound and can make choices.

2.Should I go further for PCC and Medical or should i wait for CHC email. How much time does it take ?
3. After PER how much time does it take to get PR
