Congrats!
Did you include a PCC or a 6 months bank statement with your application before? So you sent an updated ones this time, or it was your first time ever?
Thanks u all for ur kind greetings. Actually an updated PCC was sent 6 months ago because I couldn't wait till the they ask me to submit. Updated bank statement was sent only 10 days ago.

Hi asbereth,

After I reviewed my 42-page CAIPS, I found out that on the same day Jan 9, 2013. They reviewed my criminal record and POF. But they only requested POF. And I did not find any extra words like you posted just now. Thanks. Any suggestion? Would I get the 5 points due to graduation of PhD?

Let's just hope they positively respond to your email from last month then. Good luck with your job hunting.

Can you share the exact wording on that one?

On my CAIPS notes, just before they issued request for POF, the officer made an assessment on my file.

See all of your notes, and find the one that started something like as follows

and it ended

Can you find something similar?

Hi N_O,

Yes, they received my POF, and the note 1 says that.
For the medical, it stopped to update on April, 2012. I did not find anything else. Any suggestion? Thanks.

You can know the due date for the medical request. Whether they started the criminality and security checks from the activities section.

I too got my medical about 10 days after I submitted my POF, but I got my document request way before that. If you don't mind sharing, what POF did you include with the initial submission? Did you just include the balance, or did you also include 6 month transaction history?

I posted the wording on my CAIPS notes when they were about to issue document request

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/applicant-from-phd-program-after-5-nov-2011-connect-here-to-get-status-t87348.0.html;msg2171728#msg2171728

which led me to believe that document request request is usually made when selection factor assessment has been done. However, it did not seem to be the case for you.

Regarding your eligibility for 5 extra points, I would just refer to the following bit from OP6B

if the applicant or their spouse or common-law partner completes further study, works in Canada, arranges employment in Canada, or gains relatives in Canada between application and assessment, and submits the necessary documentation, points must be awarded accordingly

Since you had not been assessed yet by the time you obtained your PhD, then they will have to award you five additional points! That's what happened to phdapplicant, whose relative recently had become a Canadian PR, and they (Ottawa) granted 5 extra points to overturn the rejection (yes, sometimes, it's possible to overturn Ottawa's decision).

So when did you graduate? Was it before or after the document request?

Hi asbereth,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

In my initial submission, I did include my POF for one month (most recent month before submission at that time).

I did saw similar document in my CAIPS, but it is way back to March 2012, when I got refused. Then I appealed and got my case reopened (NER to PER). After that, I did not see any wording like yours.

I graduated in Sep. 2012, which is way before the document request. Any more suggestion? Thanks.

Hey guys,

For those who have had doc request - particularly bank statement, could I find out what is it exactly you gave?

Is it:

1) just a piece of paper from the bank with an official seal and the total amount you have in your accounts?
2) or is it the detail breakdown of the transactions from all your accounts for the past 6 mths? (normally you can print it out online from your banking acct)??

Hmm, I believe you need both. My POF document request goes as follows

Please provide evidence of funds which are completely available, transferrable and unencumbered by debt or other obligations. Evidence of account activity for the past six months must also be submitted.

There are two parts to it. You need to show evidence of funds, and you need to show evidence of account activity for the past 6 months. As per the checklist, evidence of funds can be in the form of

current bank certification letter; or
evidence of savings balance; or
fixed or time deposit statements

and evidence of account activity is something separate.
