Today, I got my application package back for the second time with a letter dated Oct. 31 that says:
Your application is not accompanied by an acceptable letter for the following reasons:
- It does not bear the college/university seal of the issuing Canadian educational institution.

Now, I got the PHD attestation form completed, signed (by an employee at the grad studies), and stamped (by the following:
"Office of the Dean
Faculty of Grad studies
Univ of xx
city, Prov
Postal code"

According to your experience; Will that work this time? do I have to put it in an envelope which stamped on the seal?

Did you get the university seal? I think that's what the previous letters were missing. If you have the seal, and you got your letter from graduate studies office, then it should be fine.

Did you get the university seal? I think that's what the previous letters were missing. If you have the seal, and you got your letter from graduate studies office, then it should be fine.

Hi all,

I haven't been here for a long time. It's good to hear that we finally got the first VISA!!! Congratulations to TJ!!

I just finished my defense today!! Hoo...big relief!! Although when I applied through this stream, I was kind of expecting to maybe get my PR when I graduate Anyways, at least they start processing some applications. I'll take it as a good sign. At the same time, guess I should start applying for the post-graduate work permit.

BTW, I got the OHIP coverage today, thanks to all the posts here. The first time I went, the lady rejected me very rudely, saying something like "I've been working here for years and never seen your case before...", and refused to give me the appeal form...But I wrote to the OHIP eligibility review committee anyways with all the supporting documents, and get their confirmation letter in a week. The staff who helped me today was very nice. He said he never seen this case before but he'll notify the manager, so they'll know about it in the future. Also, for people who're in Toronto, you probably have to go to 777 Bay for the OHIP application. I went to one other office first but they said for this type of new application which only covers 1 year of OHIP, I must go to the head office which is the 777 Bay. Maybe you already know this but just in case some people don't.

I'm in a good mood today so I typed a lot more than I usually did ^^ Hopefully we'll hear more good news here soon.

No dependent in the application
I claimed my 3 years work experience from back home. A lawyer in our school said that my RA would not count as a job and also my 3 years TAship wouldnt even equal to 1 year full time job (not equal to 1950 h). I still provided my TA contracts as well as an employment letter regarding to my TA experience since Sep. 2009, however, CIC only gave me 19 points (3 years work experience) so I assume she was right!
I'm afraid if Ottawa reject the application b/c of that 5 points of adaptability which would be extremely unfair! I'm sick of all these discrepancies!
Another point regarding to OHIP rejection: It's been a month that I sent that appeal letter to OHIP committee in Kingston, havent heard from them yet!!
Btw I've not been able to respond to the private msg, not sure why!

Bad news :-[, i got my application package returned for the reason "not accompanied by an original letter of attestation". I did included an enrollment letter with the remarks"completed at least two years and in good academic standing..." Apparently they won't recognize that letter. Actually, my university just wouldn't use the template they provide on the cic website.The person in charge said similar issues happened weeks ago and all they can do is provide an additional letter explaining they can not use the template(they say the letter are generated by the system automatically). I have to send my application again with the same letter. I really don't know if they would return my application again. I can only hope for the best. But good thing is that I can include police certificate now, so I won't need to wait till they request for it.
