Hi everyone,

I'v been super busy lately so I didn't have time to come to the forum with last updates.
I received medical request on June 21.
I am in the US and will be here for a while and I was only able to book my appointment for the beginning of August in the city I am in :(

I was in the US when I got the medical request. I made an appointment with a CIC approved physician in the state where I was at the time I got the email, …. otherwise I would have waited another three weeks to get back to British Columbia.

Hi everyone, I have some questions about the proof of funds. CIC says on the website "You do not have to show that you have these funds if:you are currently working or authorized to work in Canada". Does it mean I don't need to submit it if I'm currently a PhD student in Canada and working as a RA?
Another question I have is how much money I need to show if I need to submit the proof of funds. The number of family members is 3 for me. But only my wife and myself are on the application, since my child was born in Canada. In this case, do I need $14,720 for two people, or $18,097 for three people.
Thanks in advance.

You definitely need to show proof of funds.
I don't know the answer to the second question, but I would put my money on funds for three people since you need to support your child.

I am debating whether I should change the schedule 3 to choose RA as my main
occupation since the policy after May 2013 needs one year experience under the main occupation.

In my case, I included all my experience in the schedule 3 form which included 5 years outside Canada (my main occupation, but I had 2 reference letters for only 3.5 years) and 3 years in Canada as RA/TA. The RA/TA was secondary for me and I am not sure if they even counted or not (I ordered GCMS and should know by the end of July).

Hi All, I just joined this forum. I applied under phd stream with my working experience at my home country as
my main occupation. I am debating whether I should change the schedule 3 to choose RA as my main

whether my letter to confirm my work experience at home country was solid enough. Could anybody
give any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Josh123, It says your inbox is full to reply to your message.

Hi all,

I applied PR via Phd stream one year ago, and still wait for any response.
I will move to another province next month, but I am not sure what is the way to notify them my new address.
Could anyone give me some clue? Thanks a million!!

Go to the link pasted below and follow the instructions.

Alternatively, you can log into your eCAS and change there.

Congratulation for the medical request.
Actually I and my wife are in the same boat that you were. We are 2 married PhD students and we applied for PR last September. The thing that makes me so worried is that I only attached the RA/TA work experience letter in my application, while I claimed 40 hours per week, even for the first year that I had some courses. I know you had the same problem and you sent an update RA letter to solve that issue. My question is: Is that possible I update my work experience letter with 25 hours per week? Isn't it a misrepresentation that causes a rejection on our application? Any suggestion/idea?

I see. Thanks.

KDP,

Re: Job offer
I think you missed the word "AND" in the phrase of the CIC. They mean:
"You do not have to show that you have these funds if:
- you have a valid offer of arranged employment in Canada AND
- you are currently working or authorized to work in Canada."

Also, "Arranged employment" means "A valid job offer has to be for permanent, full-time and not seasonal work in a NOC 0, A or B occupation."
Therefore, RA is not counted as an arranged employment because it is not permanent and not full-time because the main purpose of your being in Canada is to pursue your PhD program.

Thanks. That's definitely the safer way.

Just this morning, my eCas are now showing "Medical results have been received." … three weeks after the physicians have delivered them. Things are moving along.

Good news Climate_modeller! It means they are processing the group of people who got medical requests in late May. The next step for you is to receive the COPR in the mail! So, just stay at home and buy a pint of beer for the Canada Post deliverer. ;)

Hi all,

I am the main applicant and my wife is the dependent. If my wife has graduated and found a job, do I need to notify them about the change? If so, how? How about myself, I will graduate soon. We applied last July, and still waiting...Thanks a million for the help!
