AOR'S are important as they offer information on how long its expected to take to process your case.
most of the worrying comes from not knowing when your case is likely to be completed, and looking at others going through quickly, often creates a longing for your file to be complted quickly as well.
while on the other hand when a file takes more than the the normal time to process, it leaves you wondering if this will also be the same situation for you.

AORS expected completion dates Are more specific to your case, than the general guidelines on the CIC website.
as most people notice not everyone gets through within the timelines stated on the website, some alot sooner and others well outside the timelines.

so its not necessarily the best train of thought to adopt in thinking not everyone gets them.
although cases can also go over the date on the AOR, it atleast gives you a date to get your MP To start hassling the visa office for you.

below in my next post, is some info from the Kingston Jamaica website.
you will find that if you have not received an AOR with 8 weeks you are well within your rights to make a query.
