No it doesn't. 6 months is IRCC target within which at least 80% of applications should be processed. It can be shorter, but it can also be longer.
Recently a lot of people had their applications processed in 1.5-4 months but this doesn't mean this will be the case for everyone.

Hi

I received a "status update" email one day after my medical and biometrics got updated. But nothing in the portal really changed. So, I assumed that is a "FalseIP2" update? I may be wrong in this case.

Congratulations, Are you currently inland? I see you stated your biometrics from a vistor visa was linked to your PR application..

Medicals passed on December 20th
I have a visitor visa, Did biometrics a few years ago
Congratulations, Are you currently inland? Do you not need to do a repeat biometric even though you've done one in a recent visitor visa application?

I noticed this clause in the biometric letter issued upon PPR for a friend's visitor vis application

"Please note that you will be required to provide your biometric information in support of any permanent resident application, even if you apply within the validity date indicated above "

Hello All,

A friend did an upfront medical in December of 2020, and upon applying for a visit visa, it was stated his medicals passed- Now, He's received an ITA and is about to apply for PR, is it best to do another upfront medical since its supposedly valid for a year.. or submit proof of the old medical done in 2020? TIA

Please use this website to quote IRCC's current policy correctly.

Per my situation, I gave my visitor visa biometrics, which is still valid until 2031. Since I have given biometrics prior and it is still valid, my PR application does not currently require me to give a new one (at least I did not receive a request for a new biometric letter).

Below is the direct quote from IRCC website:

"
If you apply for permanent residence
Due to COVID-19, as a temporary measure, if you gave your biometrics within the last 10 years, you don’t need to give your biometrics again.
