Knows how to apply for a FOSS? FOSS is for Field Operated Support System (immigration database; Canada)

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5563B.pdf

Hi, I ordered my FOSS notes, somebody told me to fill the aplication like this:
check under Privacy Act (no fees) : Receive copies of the records
under Required Information check: In Canada File (FOSS included) , put your client id #, and in LOCATION put all locations or Vegreville

So did I, but in other forums I start reading that if I do that ,Im going to delay my aplication, because they are going to send me back the whole thing?

It is true or false? because in the aplication I check RECEIVE C O P I E S of the records, Im confused now...... Leon, PMM, experts, please any advice on this? Thanks

Field Operations Support System (FOSS) is the computer system used by Citizenship and Immigration Canada to process all immigration files within Canada. The overseas counterpart to FOSS is CAIPS.

is this something actually needed for the application?
i apologize for asking such a dumb question

No, it's not. Don't worry about it.

While processing an application, CIC employees mark the progress on a file in their system - what was done, when it was done, who did it. FOSS notes are a print out of those notes so the applicant can see what's been done with their file. Same for CAIPS notes, only that's for outland applications.

Most people never need to deal with this, you only order them if your application has been taking too long or you think it's not being processed properly.

ah thank you, i was worried i was missing something.

Etriumph, you don't have to worried about it, I did same thing and I just called them 613 - 946 - 0953, its the only way to make sure if its a problem or not. A lady answered and she was really nice, I explained her that I just want the FOSS notes , but "somebody" suggest me or I misunderstood and I asked for In Canada File (Including FOSS notes), so I told her I was worried because I don't wanted to delay my aplication in any way just for asking for those notes. She very kindly explain to me that this process takes only 5 minutes to make photocopies and definitely NOT in any way is going to delay aplication.
The difference between asking for FOSS notes and In Canada File (Including FOSS notes) is very simple, FOSS notes are a few pages of the things entered by the officers, what they think, next step, ask for more info, etc. and is good to know them, may be helpful. and In Canada File (Including FOSS notes) is the FOSS notes and a COPY of a copy of your whole aplication. And if you ask one or the other there is not going to represent delays.
Hope this help you Etriumph, good luck!
