How ironic, we were applying at the same time but my biometric just one day later than yours. My status now still under background checking.

No, they said it’s normal since the Canada border is closed for non essential travel, hmmmm…..

Well then it depends on your purpose of visit - if it's purely for tourism that seems like a valid excuse. Although from September they're allowing fully vaccinated travelers... they might work faster then.
