HI,

I live with my husband overseas and I just wanted to know if anyone who lives overseas and not in Canada was notified of approval of sponsorship or any other type of correspondance over their email address they put on their application??
I"m just worried that they will send a letter via mail, and the way mail is over here I'm lucky if I get anything!!!!!!!

Help!!!!!!

I was in the US when my sponsorship was approved and it took around a week from the time my ecas was activated until the letter arrived in the US. I havent heard of anyone getting an email for sponsorship but your ecas should activate when they approve it and you will see that a decision has been made regarding sponsorship.

Yes - my husband received the sponsorship approval and passport request via email (the email address he included in the application). I thought he would eventually receive a letter as well - but he never did. His ECAS wasn't updated to show "decision made" until a number of days after he landed.

Sorry - Just realized that I may have misunderstood you question.

I was the sponsor and was only notified by mail when I was approved (as the sponsor).

My husband was the applicant and was notified by email when he was approved as a permanent resident and they were ready to issue his visa.

We were both living in Canada at that time.

Hope this makes sense.

I live with my wife overseas too and I am the applicant for PR. He used her cousin in Canada as our representative and the sponsorship approval was mailed to her. However, when my file was transfered to my visa office, they sent me an email and i received the same letter in the mail about a month later. I was also emailed to send additional documents to my VO and again recently emailed about my scheduled interview date and i am expecting to receive the same letter in the mail before my interview date because they asked me to bring the letter with me for the interview.

I hope this is helpful.

Hi vvargas

It seems pretty random. I know of one person who went through Pretoria who was notified by email and yet we're applying through Pretoria and have only received mail. Don't know how the decide about these things but unfortunately there seems to be no way to know whether they'll go by mail or email... except that most of the time, unfortunately, it's by mail.

Like Dikz, we opted to use someone else's mailing address for our applications (as we're both away from our home countries we used my family in Canada for me, his in SA for him) to avoid problems with the unreliable mail system here. This has cause it's own difficulties (relying on other people) but I think is worth considering.

Well by everyone's replies, it doesn't leave me with much hope :(

I guess I can only pray they use the email address i've provided or I'll be waiting for my letter for years..... :(
