Exactly. This happens all of the time. The fact the company is real proves nothing. People here get job offers all the time from Hilton. Company is certainly very real - job offers are fake.

There are two companies with the same name, one in Canada other one in UK.But they haven't asked for any money till now. And, I don't understand what they will do just by stealing passport information.

Those scams have usually 2 goals:
1. to make money of you
2. to get information from you and then to thief your identity.

First case is obvious, but funny enough less harmful.
Second option can do you much more damage in a long term (think about how they will use your fake passport and how that might end up on your record without you knowing).

That is why the advice is not to send personal documents.

I suspect that, had you proceeded, you would have been provided with an "immigration agent/lawyer/official" to handle the visa application process, where you pay them the visa fees for them to process the payment/application. What happens after that varies from being "refused a visa" to you being provided with a fake. Either way, your money is gone.
