Hi,

We weren't extended, but my wife and step-daughter were requested to repeat chest x-rays only by the Beijing VO. We are at a point 2.5 months after the medicals have expired. I still don't quite get the purpose of this if spouses have this "excessive medical demand exemption" anyhow. Plus, they both passed the first exam, really - it couldn't be extended ??

Does anyhow know the significance of the request itself for our processing ? The VO requested the passports 5 months ago and have held them since. I assume that this time has passed due to security checks. Does the request for x-rays now mean the file is back on track and the medical is the only thing remaining ? I sure hope so......

Can anybody senior comment on this?

Also how long after an extension or repeat of part does it take to process the information and issue COPR?

I read on CIC website somewhere that medical extension is requested if only this is the reason which is delaying them to give visa.

and you said your wife's and daughter's medicals got expired and now they asked for new.. may be because its been 2.5months. if its just few weeks then extension is possible.. and other thing is where you live.. (this was told by my visa officer at the time of interview)

Acc to me if they asked for re do. i guess this was the only thing and when they get their results they should be issuing COPR

If any senior member wants to add or delete something, can do

I am going through a similar situation. My wife's medicals expired in December. Her original results were all clear. They sent her a letter to have them redone and I sent them an email stating that the medical should be extended since they have lost parts on my application and have delayed the process. Best they could do was reduce the medical requirement to a chest x-ray and a visit with a panel physician because the Philippines has a high risk rate for TB.

Well actually I have lived my life in a visa exempt country and hold an Indian passport. Did my medicals there too. But now because of this darned process I'm in India.

Anyway let's see what happens. God and CIC work in mysterious ways...

If I am understanding correctly, any medical extension is initiated by the VO and we cannot request an extension ourselves? This topic is on my mind because of the strike. My wife did her medicals in January 2013 so I'm jumping the gun a bit here but just want to be prepared for all potential snags.

for my husband they didnt extended his Visa, they made him to do again and after 3 weeks he did his medical they asked for his passport to send to Vienna and they send COPR
