I used airbnb to get me initial stay sorted. airbnb is bit expensive but based on reviews of properties on airbnb website i felt better be extra consious as i was with family. So i would recommend you same.
After that you start looking at kijiji.ca and make viewing appointments with the landlord. Make your budget for housing and check few things in the property are veiwing like heating-hot water expense, electricity, internet TV etc. If you have kid(s) then look at the schools nearby.
Hope this gets you going.

If you are landing Halifax, Nova Scotia then i can help you with more details if you want.

What is the best place to settle in NS?
We are planning to look for a temporary settlement before leasing in a place for one year? Just to be sure on what will the best place to look for a job. And convenient area for transit. Those are the basic concern that we have.

What is the best place to settle in NS? - Answer to this is very subjective because something 'best' depends on once circumstance like socio-economic background, job perspectives, individual taste, linguistic/ nationality/ religious community. Probably for this decision, you would like to research the NS province with your own circumstances. Be notified that Filipinos are second largest migrant community in NS. :)

Temporary settlement in NS - i used airbnb. it worked well for me for initial settlement. I have already put some more detail on this bit in an answer earlier on this thread.

Best place to look for job - this is also quite wide open question, i am not sure if you were really serious about this :) However you may start with preparing your resume and socialising with people with peopel of your skill area. NOC code. these websites will be helpful -
www.workopolis.ca
www.simplyhired.ca
www.monster.ca
www.jobbank.ca
www.indeed.ca

Convenient area for transit - I hope you know NS is a significantly sized full fledged province. Since you did not specify which specific area to transit in NS so i am assuming you meant Halifax. Below link with help you in establishing where the bus transfer density is more and routes are busiest. http://www.halifax.ca/transit/index.php

Hope this helps.
