Hey,
I submitted my PR application on May 02, 2023. During the same day, I had an incident and was charged with hit and run and dangerous driving later on during May.
Still waiting for the trial.
I had to extend my work permit that expired on Nov 02, 2024. (Application submitted mid of Oct).
I’ve attached with my work permit extension, a letter from my lawyer that he is taking care of the case and another letter from the court with a summary of the charges.

Any idea if they would approve the application?
Have anyone been in the same situation?

Plz share your thoughts

Usually not if charges are still pending. If under the criminal code, you would be inadmissable.

Agreed, especially since a dangerous driving charge that leads to a conviction would [apparently] make the OP inadmissible.

So they don’t wait to see the results of the case to make a decision?
I have a strong case and I will get the charges dropped for sure since the injured person actually trapped me and I was running away for my life when that happened!!!

Your WP will be on hold until a decision. So once charges dropped then WP process will proceed.

So they gave me a letter when I submitted the application to keep working until mid of April 2025.
So if I got no answer from them, I should stop working immediately?

You can continue working until April 2025 or until there is a decision in your application, whichever happens sooner.

Do you have an idea how would I remain in the country until I clear my record? Should I apply for a visitor permit or the will hold it as well??

You really need to be having this discussion with a very good immigration lawyer.

You can apply for a TRP from within Canada if you are inadmissible to Canada. However the downsides of this option are that processing times are generally very long (2+ years), you will not be allowed to work while you wait and will remain out of status, you won't have health care coverage while you wait and you will obviously have no idea if you will be approved or refused at the end of all of that.

Get a lawyer.

Will do
Thanks for the advice.
