I am currently in Canada, but my job is in California and am located there. I have lived in Canada for 8 years and moved to US this year. I am planning to apply under C6 and I have met the 3/5 requirement with an additional one week buffer.

1- I am worried that my current address and job is in the US. Is there any point for getting help from an immigration lawyer to file my citizenship?
2- I can start a post-doc and work remotely for a professor in a top Canadian university. Does this help?

Thanks,

Note: I love it here, and plan to come back after a couple of years and live here! But there has been no job for my qualifications here in Canada.
My wife is a student and she is located in Canada too!

Consult a lawyer to get a good understanding of what to expect.
If you put your address in California as residential address, this might trigger RQ. Book an hour consultation just to be on the safe side.

Yep...
Basically you have no option, but to apply, as is, in your case. You won't quit your job and come back, just to apply for citizenship, if I am not mistaken.

Try to provide complete information for everything as per checklist and keep your fingers crossed, and deal with anything that comes your way.

Lawyer won't help except documentation, they have no influence on the process. Further only seek advice from reputable firm / lawyer.

This forum is good guide too, ask a specific question, with title related to your case in a new post and may be if someone went through the same process they can guide you.

Why pay a lawyer to fill the forms which you can do yourself ??
Remember they only interested in your money......

Hiring a lawyer/consultant is waste of money you can do it yourself better, as long as you are meeting the eligibility requirement then I don't think if it matters if your current address is in US, read the CIC instructions guide carefully you will get your answers if not people are here to help and support.
