Wondering what the time lines are for those who filed their applications from Japan. I initially filed for my PR visa through Nova Scotia and then I got the AOR on February 17, 2009. Then I submitted all documents in June 2009 and received an AOR from the Tokyo office on August 4th, 2009. Right now my status says: received by visa office.

I haven't received anything else yet. Wondering what would be the next step. Any similar experiences?

Why going to Canada from Japan?

GOOD QUESTION...well I am from Turkey, and I live in Japan but I would really like to live in Canada. It's more family culture oriented there compared to Japan.

I not really understand what is the family culture oriented ?

what I meant is that in Japan people work very long hours and it is part of their culture. It's a working culture society and not much time for family. So, this is the reason why I and my husband have decided to settle down in Canada. Of course, we still need to work hard, but there is also a good balance we can get unlike here. Hope that makes sense.......WE ALL WANT TO LIVE IN A NEW PLACE FOR DIFFERENT REASONS BUT WE ALL HAVE A COMMON GOAL: TO HAVE BETTER OPPORTUNITIES.

I from Israel and here also people work hard.
I heard that in Canada the people also work hard - same to Japan.
I like Japan and thinking about travel to Tokio from age 12

Yeah people work hard everywhere...it depends how you define " a lot" I guess. Anyways, good luck to you!

no not at all......

no not at all......
I heard somewhere that the Tokyo office gives a date for eligibility review and predicts a total processing time of 1 year. So in your AOR they did not mention a date?

well they did mention something like this: " If you have not received any instructions from this office by 30 October 2009, you are requested to contact his office directly"..............so what does this mean? does this mean I am supposed to know by then if my application will be rejected or medical and interview? am confused a bit..

I think people go to Canada for different reasons, and everybody has his/her own preferences. Though Japan is a highly developed country, there's a lot of pressure and not much diversity in Japan. The Japanese culture sometimes is overwhelming. Anyway, my point is every country has its own flaws, and don't just assume one is better than the other.

agreeing with your comment.......

That might mean that they will do the eligibility review by that date. Or it might mean they will ask for medical or something! It is quite confusing I guess.

However, CIC instructions clearly state that eligibility review by the visa office should be completed at most 2 weeks after the end of the 120 days. So your status must change to in process (if eligible) or decision made (if rejected) by then. That visa offices do this or not is a different story.
